Sad day for Gay Couples...and their Supporters

Knives and sword yielding Judges of the Oregon’s Supreme Court end the marriage frenzy the gays and lesbian couples had last year, rendering them illegal. They even went a step ahead and said that

“Today, marriage in Oregon - an institution once limited to opposite-sex couples only by statute - now is so limited by the State Constitution as well”.

I think the courts also spoke on behalf of the heavy mandate the people gave in last elections, regarding defining marriage as only a union between one man and one woman.

I wish the courts in our country were as clear and respect the mandate of people and really enlighten the Moderately–Enlighten.

Re: Sad day for Gay Couples...and their Supporters

Sara516, in order to use it...One has to understand the context of the ayath, otherwise, you(in general) will be not better than a person who wants to go kill the infidels because it says so in Quran.

Re: Sad day for Gay Couples...and their Supporters

Well, from that one line, I think it means "Live and let live"...I could be wrong..

Re: Sad day for Gay Couples...and their Supporters

Yes, that is what it means literally.

Re: Sad day for Gay Couples...and their Supporters

Yeah ....but if read in the context then does it still mean teh same t hing? :-|

109.001 Say : O ye that reject Faith!
109.002 I worship not that which ye worship,
109.003 Nor will ye worship that which I worship.
109.004 And I will not worship that which ye have been wont to worship,
109.005 Nor will ye worship that which I worship.
109.006 To you be your Way, and to me mine.

Sara, here is the complete Sura for you, now you tell me how will you read it.

Re: Sad day for Gay Couples...and their Supporters

Those who reject what I worship, we do not worship the same thing, nor will we ever worship the same thing, nor will we want to worship what the other is worshipping. So worship as you will, and I will worship as I will....

Re: Sad day for Gay Couples...and their Supporters

Mandates are a funny thing...on one hand they disallow civil unions for homosexuals..on the other hand they pave way for bombing more muslim lands...aaaah..the irony!!! :)

Re: Sad day for Gay Couples…and their Supporters

Sarah, I love your innocnece. Here is how I see it, “To you be your Way, and to me mine.” is relevant to the discussion above. In other words its not all inclusive…it does not apply to all things in life. IMHO, its telling us that you can invite peopel to Islam and if they refuse…do not force them…levae them to their faith/fate. However, you cannot apply it to all matters concernig life.

Re: Sad day for Gay Couples…and their Supporters

Lol @ my “innocence”… I didn’t imply that i read that quote to include all matters in life, only worship

Edit: I’ll agree that the verse applies to worship/faith. But why can’t we apply it to other aspects of life? If a person is doing something that isn’t going against Islam, then why do other Muslims decide to make it their business to say that someone’s decision is wrong or that they’re “retarded”? This is just an example that I can think of off the top of my head:living with in laws. When I was in Pak, I asked all my family is it wrong that I dont’ want to live with my future in laws, whoever they may be, adn they reacted in a way that I might as well have told them I was living with a guy already :D. Now, contrary to culture/tradition, there is nothing that’s haram about living alone wiht your husband, but in the desi version of Islam it might as well be.Why should I be made to feel guilty, or like a “retard” for wanting to break away from tradition?

Re: Sad day for Gay Couples...and their Supporters

what do the members of the unsecure feminist lesbian movement of gupistan have to say about this?

Re: Sad day for Gay Couples...and their Supporters

^ Um probably that there's more important, dangerous things to worry than whether hte guy next door wants to marry his boyfriend ?

Re: Sad day for Gay Couples...and their Supporters

yea like running around naked spreading lesbianism and becoming an imaam and then selling everyone their made up version of islam

yup all those things are really important and are really going to benefit everyone and muslims in particular

Re: Sad day for Gay Couples...and their Supporters

....

Re: Sad day for Gay Couples...and their Supporters

Very thought provoking reply sara

Re: Sad day for Gay Couples…and their Supporters

 Personally, I am very much glad to know that they finally declared it illegal. I have always been against same-sex marriages, because if nobody put a stop to this, it will keep getting worse. More and more gay/lesbian couples would emerge out of no where. More people will think they have option to go either way, which is stupid. Supposedly, homosexuals know during puberty whether their inclination is for the opposite sex or the same. I feel sorry for true homosexuals, because they have to go through so much BS, embarrassment, harrassment, bullying, and things like that to get what they want. gay-wannabees deserve a horrible death! they are the reason why real homosexuals are deprived of their rights.

Re: Sad day for Gay Couples...and their Supporters

good decision.

Re: Sad day for Gay Couples...and their Supporters

Bad decision. Hope my homosexual brothers and sisters dont give up at these minor setbacks. Canada and California will soon lead the way, hopefully.
