Few Days back, I came across interesting conversation between my colleagues at lunch time.
Someone said that ’ I’m going to offer Taraveeh in air-conditioned masjid, per wo qareebi air-conditioned majid ko **shaheed **kar rahe hain’.
The other one who lives in same area said : ‘Shaheed nahin kar rahe, extend kar rahe hai’
First guy said ’ extend karne ke liye pehle shaheed karenge’.
Then third guy jumped into discussion : O Bhai! Shaheed matlab jaise Babri masjid ko Shaheed kia tha.
First guy who started discussion said : ToRne ke liye molvi saab ne shaheed ka word use kia tha. Then he turned to the guy who talked about extension and said ’ extend karne ke liye kuch hissa toRen ge aur phir extension hogi’.
This was the time, when I interrupted ‘ab aap ne toRne ka word kiyun use kiya’?
He said, I was just explaining and therefore used word ‘ToRna’?
I said ’ who will decide whether you were giving a ‘definition’ or explanation’? ![]()
Then discussion ended, as lunch time ended.

So whats your view about some words being considered so ‘sacred’, when other common words give same meaning?
Anyother examples of ‘sacred words’ you remember?
