Not that it was asked about pig, wine or praying to any god. Your two cents are duly noted.![]()

Who says meat eating is completely banned as per Hindu religion… ![]()
One of the Veda’s Soma Veda is about meat eating and drinking. Soma = Intoxicating Drink.
The challenge is many try to understand Hinduism with clear Do’s and Don’ts, like other religion. Which Hinduism isn’t..
Re: Sacred Cow is in India only, not overseas.
Shweetdreamz, you are being very unfair. Let me ask you a question, do you think it’s OK/humane for us to kill animals and eat them? If you say yes, then your argument is that it’s OK to kill them and we don’t have to treat them in a humane fashion. Giving food to an animal is a kindness, we could just let them fend for themselves. Treating your livestock with kindness is a sawab, even if you’re going to eat them. When you slaughter them, you do it in a humane manner.
Lets put it this way, if you’re going to eat the animal anyway, is it OK to torture it? Do you think you would get gunah if you tortured the animal? Why? You’re going to eat it anyway? Same way, if you treat it nicely/kindly before eating it, that earns you sawab.
Re: Sacred Cow is in India only, not overseas.
actually i think its wrong to kill animals to eat them
(not that i practice what i preach in this case, but i try)
your statement makes sense but i’ve been weirded out by a few incidents where i have seen animals scream when they were slaughtered. when i was a kid i saw my dear white goat slaughtered and i still remember how it screamed. that day onwards i have not eaten goat meat or cow meat. i guess its just a personal issue. but i think it makes sense that if u live in a place where u have easy access to meat substitutes, it is better to choose them.
Re: Sacred Cow is in India only, not overseas.
I hate to bring religion into the argument Shweet, but you seem to put some value into religion, so here’s my religious point of view, when you say that killing animals to eat them is wrong, you’re saying that God advocates evil. God is the Most Just and the Kindest, why woule He, in His Majesty, allow ust to do something ‘wrong’? If God advocates something, in this case slaughtering animals to eat them, then one should feel happy to do it knowing that God approves. In fact, if done properly, by attributing this animal and its meat to God, by acknowledging that God is the one who provides food for you, you turn the simple act of killing an animal, following God’s rules, you turn that act into a form of worship.

i dont want to get started on ORGANIZED slaughter of animals as a ritual which i find wrong …ummm…oops!..![]()
Re: Sacred Cow is in India only, not overseas.
A bit off topic, but wrong could mean excessive or contrary to the spirit of the act in the first place.
It’s wrong to, in general, pray all day long oblivious to your family and duties in society, for example…there’s nothing evil with praying. But there’s a reason why there are only 5 prayers in a day…
I don’t thing the slaughter is wrong…but I think too many do it for the sake of doing a ritual and don’t reflect on what the act means…
Re: Sacred Cow is in India only, not overseas.
How about organized eating of the slaughtered animals? ![]()
I’m all good as long as there is no waste…animals are animals…hell, I’m one too.
I’m so hungry right now, I could go out…stalk a cow…run it down and axphixiate it by biting down on it’s throat… and start feeeding on it’s limp carcus…there’s no “nice” way to eat an animal.
And I won’t fall into the trap of humanizing an animal because it has eyes or screams…I mean, I need my meat…low carb diet…what you gonna do?
