Re: Sacred Cow is in India only, not overseas.
it makes it halal .
Re: Sacred Cow is in India only, not overseas.
Good to hear that!
Re: Sacred Cow is in India only, not overseas.
My reading from History, Cow was declared scared since it was
1. Animal of toil - Hence used in agriculture
2. Milk - Hence Food
3. Urine - Used in those times with Gobar - It kills germs
4. Eats simple grass, doesn't need specific food to grow..
Hence it was economic lifeline of Agricultural Economy.
Though over time like many other practices in many religions, it has been taken literally and has created many problems for many of us..
Re: Sacred Cow is in India only, not overseas.
I think all farmers will agree with the 4 points you mentioned here but that dosent mean you start worshipping a animal
What next dog “man’s best friend”
Re: Sacred Cow is in India only, not overseas.
Good point is that we are agreeing on something, and I do agree that not necessary to worship animal. I said that in my last post itself.
Though clearly practices in religion take time to change. There is animal worship/sacredness in many of the religion. I have seen Pig raises tempers with Muslims, though I don’t know why.
In Hindu’s most of us have started eating meat, which was a taboo till 20-30 years back. Its a flexible religion with guidance to live life. There are still sections where Cow is important, 70% of Hindus in India still do agriculture.
Many a religious practices are indicated based on time when the religious book was written.
Re: Sacred Cow is in India only, not overseas.
Pigs are considered unclean by muslims and jews. Not because they are sacred
Re: Sacred Cow is in India only, not overseas.
Not necessary unclean any more, the way pigs are raised in US farms.
Re: Sacred Cow is in India only, not overseas.
That is your opinion
Re: Sacred Cow is in India only, not overseas.
simliarly - What should be or should not be worshipped is your opinion. If worshipping means only giving importance in one group. While the path to GOD is Spritualism.
Re: Sacred Cow is in India only, not overseas.
i guess then man made religon is different in different parts of world...
Re: Sacred Cow is in India only, not overseas.
You mean just following rituals with no spritualism? Yes that is wrong too but rituals with spritualism togather shape your faith
Re: Sacred Cow is in India only, not overseas.
how come china japan and europe survived eating pork?
Re: Sacred Cow is in India only, not overseas.
nobody is saying that pork is poison, but because pig is a scavanger it is forbidden to eat its flesh, but if no food is avalible and there is a danger to life then it can be consumed
Re: Sacred Cow is in India only, not overseas.
Yeah that is why all the vegetable eating Hindus of Gujrat were all that “peace loving” when they committed the massacre of Muslims. I guess that’s what you call “pure thoughts”
Re: Sacred Cow is in India only, not overseas.
Absolutely.
Though I have never heard that praying to a GOD not related to one of the incarnations would give a person salvation. Like Hanuman gives material strength, though salvation is by Ram. This would be complex for some people. Though its like concepts are different.
Re: Sacred Cow is in India only, not overseas.
how about wine?
The key to reaping the health benefits of red wine seems to be moderate consumption. Drinking one glass a day for women and up to two glasses a day for men may decrease the risk of heart disease, cancer and stroke. Excessive or binge drinking, however, doesn’t produce the same benefits. In other words, when it comes to red wine: more is not better.
