Sachin’s got to get that monkey off his back

I think both views are correct. Sachin is very good and yes he scores a lot of runs. His ability as a batsmen is never in doubt. The question arises about his ability to stay at the crease for a long period and to get other players to play around and with him and guide them. India would have had a lot more victories if he had done that.

One more thing i would liek to add to Ehsan bhai's post that geenral Pakistani fans were always livid with Ijaz Ahmed who used to score good 60-70 while chasing and used to get out at such critical occassions when only his stay could have helped our cause on that chase. That doesnt mean that Ijaz wasnt a good batsmen But he lacked the finishing touches and used to stumble at the last hurdle.

Tendulkar has the respect of every fan aroudn the cricketing world but he has given indians hope against Aussies and stumbled when needed.

and by the way i m not comparing Sachin's over all record with Ijaz's. I m just comparing their records while delievering the final blow, Sachins other heroics are enough to bring 5 ijaz out of him. My point is ke thats why Ijaz was never a great batsmen and a man not to be relied upon. And Indians should NOT rely 100 percent on Sachin while chasing a total, because he stumbles midway more times then he delievers the final punch.

Fairy - May be you can shower some of your 'VIDESHI' mentality on your friend Sehwag, he needs a lot of it.

Who is saying that Sachin is Perfect and has no flaws in him ? It's you and other 1 billion idiots who want him to be perfect, you expect the impossible from him and when he fails you accuse him of 'Choking'. You fail to understand that Sachin is also a human and he also gets affected by the big occasion and pathetic performance of his team mates. If only the other 10 members of the team performed decently India would have been holding the Trophies both the world cup as well as the TVS cup. As for you questioning him for his slow batting, well in the same match Damien Martyn scored 61 in 100 balls, still his team won and that is because his team had other members who could contribute. unlike our tail who scored in binary. Or May be I should talk about the Tullaybaj Sehwag whose highest score against Aussie was 5 or VVS who dropped 6 catches, or Dravid for missing stumings of Martyn and selecting the specialist fast bowler in the name of 'Salvi' or the Indian bowlers who gave away 50 runs in last 5 overs to a newbie batsman called 'Clark'. Why dont you check the contributions of Sehwag,VVS, Dravid,Kaif,Yuvraj etc in all the 7 matches they played ??

You say sachin doesn't play in Crucial matches forgetting the last league match against NZ which was kind of a SemiFinal. Sachin took it upon himself to score 100 runs in 90 balls and left a great platform for the other batsmen to come & score.

He does try to do too much because he knows that his teammates are useless & Good for nothing. People tend to compare him with likes of Laras & Waughs in finals - Go and do it, you will find that he has better record than both of them and pretty much every other player of his generation.

No Indian can take anything away from Sachin, even if he wanted to. He is our only saviour on the cricket field our only hope.

Come on Asif, you are taking away some very good and match winning innings played by Dravid. In recent test matches he has held the fort admirably for India. Sachin, is the best batsmen in the world, but Dravid is Mr. reliable and a very very good bat. One batsmen apart from Sachin you can rely on. Just look at his recent test record. It is not his fault if BCCI are using him as a wicketkeeper in ODI's.

^^ plus dont forget Laxman who saved indian embarrassment against NZL by drawing the second test match and eventually it was down to him to do the job.

I think the Indian batsmen need to change their mental approach. The moments Sachin goes their is panic in their ranks. I would hate to but I'll give the example of WC 96 QF which we lost agaisnt India. Anwar and Sohial provided us with a brilliant start the middle order failed to capitalize on it. So we lost the match because of the middle order, the openers had done their job. Same is the case with Sachin but with Sachin people tend to demand more and more. He is an amazing cricketer and did his job in the last match against Australia. It was up to others to capitalize on it.

Mr. Tapan seems to have a poor cricketing sense. He is giving the example of Richards against Tendulkar and how Richards took his team to victories over the years. That’s true but Richards did not come to open the innings, his job was not to provide the platform but to build on it, Haynes and Grenidge did their job over the years and Richards was good enough to capitalize on it. Sachin's job is not to deliver the final punch as an opener. His job is to provide a platform for the batsman that come under him, you cant expect the opener to bat out the whole 50 overs in every match. As long as the openers provide with a decent start their job is done.

Its time people start giving Sachin the respect he deserves. He is not a god, what he is, is an outstanding cricketer, perhaps the best the world has seen. Personally I think Indians praise him more then they should but then they come down very hard on him too when he fails. The critics need to realize that Sachin plays CRICKET which is not a one man show. He has been an outstanding cricketer over the years and I think one series failure wont hurt him too much so I hope he fails against Pakistan ;)

Tere se baat karna bekaar hai..You dont need to call people Idiots when they dont agree with you.It just shows your desperation.
GO and read my post again and again....

Dil pe mat le.

:rotfl:!!!

Each time he plays, he is under immense pressure, people expect so much from him, and he does not dissapoint them. Lekin he is a insaan afterall, he cant always be Mr. Perfect and score a century every time he goes out there.

10dulkar is a great batsman.

I think when ever india wins he has given his due share ( most of the times ) but since he is not scoring the last runs so some one else takes the cradit off him. or if he is till the end then the match is won so easily that ppl think it is not a great inning.

I really appricieat his innings against Aus in the TVS cup. he played off the new ball. He may have hit a few blows then gone back but he tried his best. A moment of relax n he lost his wicket.

He also mentioned in his post match interview that cricket is a team game.
