i just wanted to highlight the pathetic performances by other batsmans … and there are many such inngs where sucidal performance by others lead to sachin being named loosers …
besides that if everone thinks he is not match winner then why talk @ him … and praising other batsmans is ok but why you have to abuse sachin.
how many times u ppl want to discuss he is match winner or not, everytime conclusion is that he is not, then whats the point in starting new topic. If rahul dravid is match winner (he is …) then topic should have been devoted to dravid rather than how bad a performer tendulkar is.
i am not here to argue with any one … neither any foolish thread is going to change my views,
FINAL STATEMENT ON TENDULKAR
A once great batsmen who, years ago, was the greatest of modern players, but is now a player that is but a mere shadow of his former self. If I was him, I would go now, while he is still regarded as one of the best, rather than later.
Hei.. dont write him off so quickly.. Remember his first match against SL after the injury lay off. He was back to his self. Taking the attack to the bowlers and plundering the bowling to a well made 93.
I think he has in him to score more runs. I certainly believe so.
what a batting....Tendi is the best..hope he can pick up again...such good player so even if he is not making 100 give him more chancce ---he will come back I think
You are watching the end of a great player. Tendulkar may score a few more good knocks but he will never be the feared Tendi anymore. When i started watching criket in 1990, this was the case with Miandad and Imran, both had great reputations but had lost their great touch. Imran bowled his huge inswingers at the pace of an off spinner and Miandad could never hit a fast owler through covers or over mid-on/mid off.
Any criticsm of Tendulkar is still met with fierce rebuke and rebuttals. But would anyone have predicted the demise of Ganguly a few years ago? He was a similar legend in his own right, if not as much as a batsman but as a captain.
'Match-winner' is the key word. The reason why Miandad, Inzimam, Imran, Wasim and others were great. Every team needs one and they want their best player to be just that - a match winner. Doesn't matter if his career stats are diddly squat, as long as he can win the game for his team, everything is good. The reason Sachin Tendulkar gets so much criticsized is because he is not a 'match-winner' like Inzi. Sachin had great ODI and Test matches, the problem is India never won those games, the best they drew thus negating his efforts.
If Sachin had played 10 great Test knocks in the past, India managed to win only two of them and one of those wins would be against a medicore team. You can't deny his talent, efforts and what he has done for his team. Tendulkar can't make all of the runs, just like Inzimam can't win all games for Pakistan. Pakistan is lucky because whenever Inzi plays well, we win. Lately he has lost his touch in the ODI's because of back and his own laziness but in Test, he is the best.
I think, in the end, Ricky Pointing will surpass both Inzi and Sachin. Rarely injured, Pointing won two World Cups including one where he lead his side as a captain and played a brillant inngs in the final. Great player in ODI and Test, even better captain and a match winner.
Though thanks for cricket frenzy crowd, Tendulkar and Inzy will always be rated above Poning and people will find reasons to do so..
Personally I will love to see one more great year from Tendulkar and than retiring with his head held high..........
When was the last time a subcontinent player took the right decision at the right time, i.e. when to quit?
I can only think of khan sahib. Otherwise for most of them it ends in unceremonous fashion which is a shame. Don’t you all think that Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Miandad, Kapil Dev, Gangu deserved an honourable finish. They all deserved nothing less than what Steve Waugh got.
It is obvious that the end has started for Tendi. For Tendi and his fans it will be wonderful if he can end the career on a high note. But how often it has happened for a great player? and how often cricket greats have made a mockery of their outstanding career only at the end by stretching it unneccesarily. Lets see what will happen in Tendi’s case. For some reason I have a feeling that he will not make that mistake.
Been posting it ever since I registered; Tendulkar is overrated and is in no way a match winner as he tends to choke in high pressure situations. Only now even the Indian crowd has started to realize this and are booing him :o .
Tendulkar dismissed the possibility of retirement. “I am not even interested in this question,” he said. “If you look at things in the proper perspective, I played just three innings in Pakistan and four at home against England. It is fine. Nothing to be concerned about,” Tendulkar added.
Lata Mangeshkar recently told Sachin Tendulkar at a public function.
I am a big fan of yours. I don't know much about cricket. But when you bat I stay glued to the the TV screen. I forget to take bath and have my meal.
And then, as he blushed, she added: These days, of course, I don't stay hungry for long. Muhahaha.
