Sachal aur sabrina was a long play telecasted from Hum TV few years back.
It shows lot of cultural things / props like Ralli, etc background music in Sindhi (specially songs of Manzoor Sakhirani who was a craze in rural Sindh during 1980s).
Sachal aur Sabrina Part 1 - PlayIt.pk
Its story of a girl, whose father migrated from a village in Sindh and married and settled in west. The girl came to visit their relatives in village. The writer raises some serious questions in lighter way.
There is a perception for people who migrated that they break-up their relationship with land and roots and don’t take any interest in teaching children their mother tongue.
Its difficult for generations brought up abroad to settle in homeland of forefathers.
How do you see these perceptions? We can’t generalise, but what are your general observation about these perception.
Re: Sachal aur Sabrina - Some Cultural Questions
Should children raised abroad teach mother tongue by their parents?
If parents are bilingual… (Sindhi, Punjabi, Balochi, Pashto), should Urdu also teach them?
Re: Sachal aur Sabrina - Some Cultural Questions
Why not? Learning a language is additional quality. When they send their children to learn French / Spanish, etc, why should not Urdu, Sindhi, Punjabi?

Quite agree. I think every language is an additional quality, even if you don't use it regularly.

I've noticed that certain aspects of forefather culture are becoming popular. An example of this is cuisine and names. Loads of people are talking about "heirloom" or traditional names and heirloom recipes/cuisine.

What about going back to homeland of forefathers and settling there?

I don't know about settling there but I know a couple of people who decided to go on a summer long vacation to their country origin. One of them was going specifically for the purpose of researching his family/ancestry.

Yeah, I think people have an interest in it. The gentleman I mentioned did quite a bit of research and was able to find the exact village his great-grandparents lived in.
