Can anyone tell me how much border of this lehnga is? 6 inches? Maybe more?
Re: Sabyasachi/Manish Malhotra
i too am half indian and half paki. i really liked that so many ppl have respect for our culture too. I dont know abt u guys but the only thing I wanna do after seeing all these beautifuuuuuuuuul dresses is break into one of their stores (dosent matter if its HSY or Sabyasachi) and steal all the dresses. Anyone wanna accompany me ?
Re: Sabyasachi/Manish Malhotra
you should!!! and supposedly their designers are cheaper...at least, my friend's wife got her outfit from sabyasachi and it was 1 lakh. I know thats not CHEAP, but if you think about him being one of the best designers in India and the cost versus our best designers and the cost, its relatively less expensive. Nilofer Shahid, Bunto, HSY, they all charges thousandssss of dollars for their outfits.
fasaadi, do you know what that 1 lakh outfit looked like (in terms of kaam, fabric, etc)?
i agree with you about inflated pakistani prices. haven't shopped in india, but am seriously considering it after reading various guppan anecdotes about how far pakistani designers have their heads up their asses. at this rate, you're left out of the market if you don't have serious money to burn. india seems to be an attractive option with a bigger, more professional fashion industry and better customer service. plus none of the headache of having to find a good kaarigar to copy an over-priced nomi ansar/hsy/nilofer shahid outfit. anyone have any india shopping experiences? is there an existing thread on indian designers/experiences?
Re: Sabyasachi/Manish Malhotra
Does anyone have links to manish malhotra bridals or sabyasachis? I'd like to see what they have to offer and in what price range.
Re: Sabyasachi/Manish Malhotra
this is a sabyasachi bridal.. i got quoted $3000 for this but that was a year ago.
I love his formals though, they are absolutely gorgeous and really cheap compared to other designers.
Re: Sabyasachi/Manish Malhotra
that's gorgeous! was this a pakistani bride? i love his formals too ... one fine day i'll actually own some. his designs/cuts are unique; haven't seen anything comparable coming out of pakistan. that quote sounds about right since fasaadi mentioned 1 lakh indian (around $2500) for a bridal of his, and that post is a couple years old. these rates are still very competitive compared to across the border. thanks for the picture arsh!
Re: Sabyasachi/Manish Malhotra
I see this thing the Pakistani bridal dress designer only focus on the desgins of the dress introduced latest seasons designs but they don’t think about the bridal sets .is the jewelry of bridal sets is available in the market as the dress design i think so answer is NO.i give the opinon to the designer introduce first check the jewelry designs that latest introduced in the market then make the bridal dress according to that critria.
Re: Sabyasachi/Manish Malhotra
@chaibiskut.... this bride is bangladeshi.. and i really loved her outfit... and she had really good things to say abt sabyasachi too... she mentioned that it took her 15days to get an appointment and the dress was delivered in 3 months time! i really want to visit his outlet in India and get some formals from him. Even his 20K INR formals (compared to other bollywood designers i think dats the best price) are stunning...not much kaam but the way he plays with different fabrics is jus amazing.

Wow, that's impressive customer service. She makes a beautiful bride, too. Do you have any 20K formals in mind that you want to get? Do post pics if you're inclined. I can't wait to go to India! Thanks so much for the reply :)
Re: Sabyasachi/Manish Malhotra
^that bride looked more pretty in her walima.. she had different makeup
anyways bak to topic
my aunt had ordered this one from SS but made some minor changes to it…she orderd a different color combo and it had a velvet border ..it cost her around 22-24K INR
she got hold of this pic n wanted to make an anarkali inspired by this the next time she visits him
Re: Sabyasachi/Manish Malhotra
^She’s a pretty girl, the pink suits her. The green and pink ensemble on the next bride is very unique, I wish I could see the shirt. I love how our subcontinental culture is so diverse. That look would be unheard of on a Pakistani bride. I like the Sabyasachi sari Aishwarya Rai wore on Oprah a few years ago, but haven’t been able to find a ramp/full-length picture of that. Too bad I’m not allowed to upload pictures but this is one of my favorites : http://www.paklinks.com/gsmedia/files/61479/sabyasachi.jpg
