Re: Saat Lara Har
^ i dont think its a satlara har
Re: Saat Lara Har
i thought a saat lara haar would have layers of necklaces? i could be wrong...
Re: Saat Lara Har
you are right honey.. i think it has 7 layers thats why its called sat lara har
Re: Saat Lara Har
Don't they look a bit OTT?
Re: Saat Lara Har
I think they look very classy with nothing else on, my plan is to make a very delicate saat lara haar and wear only that, nothing else added not even a choker
everything is nice in moderation
Re: Saat Lara Har
a saat lara does have the potential to look a bit OTT but by itself or with a very small choker it looks quite elegant
Re: Saat Lara Har
sat lara is way too big..I like 3 lara.lolz
Re: Saat Lara Har
I wore one at my wedding, didn't really like it at that time but now given the high priceof gold have reconsidered.
Re: Saat Lara Har
They look even better when they're heirloom. You know I'm a Lahori but I so wish Lahoris had the ethics of Karachites as far traditions go. I hardly see Lahoris wearing heirloom whereas most KHI girls fit regal/traditional jewellery in there somewhere. I so wish my mom had kept her long moti haar (she still has her bindi/jhoomar/moti-nearly-choker necklace, nath, etc) but didn't think she'd ever need the long one anymore so she remodeled it. =( if only she knew she was going to have an heirloom obsessed daughter. :(
Re: Saat Lara Har
there is a teen (3), paanch (5) and saat(7) lara haars. not sure whey they are odd numbers, but thats how they are done apparently. I wore a paanch lara with a med sized polki/emeralds necklace. How it looks may also depend on how low or high you wear it.
I’ve always called the long necklace with a single strand/chain (even if it’s wide strand like the one in the picture above) a rani-haar and the long multi-strand with individual pendants on each strand a laaRa - the name depending on how many strands there are, i.e. teen, paanch and saat-lara.
