Maybe, but as far as I have been able to dig out I can safely say that the areas constituting today's Afghanistan, Pakistan and Northern India have been invaded maybe more than any other area in the world. It was continuous for centuries and centuries, and look at Afghanistan and Pakistan even now. The strategic location which should have been a plus point has proven to be a curse for these countries.
I think cities like Baghdad, Bukhara, Balakh also remained on hitlist of invaders.
I think large area of cultivated land....resulted in rich agricultural industry...and prosperity...
And accumulated wealth different temples in form of golds and precious stone...was also a reason...
Rich basins of sindhu and ganga were target of invaders..Have you heard about recent discovery of great wealth in Sri Padmanabh swami temple of kerala?

I used to have some tableeghi jamaat friends while in university and they used to believe that Hazrat Imam Mehdi could come from any of these areas thats why the US will try to keep those areas unstable. Can this have to do something with the New World Order/Christian religious texts?

Yes it got something with religious emotions of three religions.

I think Mahabharat's Kurkshetra was near Delhi and if the city was present in those times, it might got affected by the epic war.
^ Kurkshetra was a few hundred kilometers North West of Delhi, but not too far I remember the Mahratha Army in 1761 went on a pilgramage to that area and was caught off guard, also Panipat itself is on the main road towards Delhi and it was the site of many large battles of the Mahabharata war so yeah if Delhi was present theres no doubt it would have been affected.
Sometimes a City does not have to be involved in a conflict for it to be sacked, it only teeks a few reffugees from one battle to go to such a city for shelter which would incur the wrath of the invaders to raze the city.

Delhi was looted by the rebellious british indian army then comprised of purbiyas of awadh, there were divisions from bareilly, neemach,allahbad, miners and sappers from meerut, Gujjar and jats looted mostly people who ran out of delhi, in may it were brits in september targets were muslims and baniyas:D, Jats looted only on mehrauli, western side, gujjar looted in remaining three side. Delhi city was looted by purbiyas
