Delhi is called Indraprastha, in mahabharat, capital of Pandavs, the heroes, before that it was capital of their ancestor and was called Khandavprastha, thier cousins, villains, had capital in Hastinapur near meerut, 60 kms north west of delhi:)

Delhi was worst affected during the revolt of 1857, the British indian army looted delhi from may to mid september, though the that period has various emotions too:)

BTW, whose turn it was to loot.. Gujjars or Jats?
