A man went to his saural alone without his wife as he was on an official tour of his in law’s town. He was greeted very well there by his saas and sasur.
For his dinner his saas cooked best dishes. She decorated the dining table with a variety of tasty dishes. The man saw all types of mouthwatering food before him. He was very fond of eating ‘papad’ with his meal, so he was disappointed to see that papads were missing from the table.
His saas understood his searching eyes and asked, " Kyon beta !! Kuchh rah gaya kya ?’
He replied ," Kuchh khas nahin …wo papad…"
" Oh!! I know, I know you are very fond of papad… I have already prepared papads.. I am just bringing.." She said.
she came back with a plate of papad, just then the door bell rang. She put the plate of papad at the table at the corner end of the room and went towards the door. After speaking to the person at the door she returned and forgot about the papad plate.
She requested her son in law to dine comfortably and started to serve in between. The man had a strong urge to eat papad but out of courtesy he was unable to ask for the papad plate placed at the corner table.
His saas now began talking, " So, beta ! Was every thing fine in your journey?"
" No, Saasuji !! When I was coming to your house, I was crossed by a big black snake" He exclaimed.
“Hai Allah !! What was the distance between you and the snake ?” She nearly screamed.
" That distance was just equal as between me and the plate of papad" he said.
“Achha!!!” replied his saas and at once recollected that she had forgot the plate of papad at the corner table. She brought the papad plate back to the dining table and said," Sorry beta !! I forgot this plate" and then asked," phir kya hua ?"
Tha man was happy that he got his papads, and said," Phir kya hona tha, saanp apne raste chala gaya aur mein apne raste"
