ajab ik ghubaar thaa

badlee kee oTT maiN
chaaNd tanhaa, udaas thaa

taaroN kaY aas paas bhee
andheroN kaa raaj thaa

kuch aataa naheeN yeh yaad
kiss kaa intezaar thaa

aaNkhoN maiN tertaY huaY
unn aaNsu’oN kaY paar
AaNchaL kee sursaraahuT thee,
woh chehra Gulaab thaa

maiN beetaY huaY zamaanaY kaY
maah-o-saal maiN
yaadoN maiN gharQ thaa,
LaRakpann sawaaL thaa

KamraY maiN jaltaY huaY
woh barqi qumqumaY
pehni thee sub naY kuch
woh rang barang see TopiyaaN
ghubaaraY uRR rahai thaY
dar-O-deewaar bhee sajjaY thaY

maiN bhaagaa phir rahaa thaa
Sherwaani, zeb-e-ta’n kiyaY

har dil masroor aur
chehraa gulnaar thaa
chimTaa huaa MaaN saY,
maiN bahut bayqaraar thaa

phir yooN huaa kaY
kitaab kaa safha palaT gayaa

sub kho gayaa aisaY
goyaa kaY ik khwaab thaa

naa kamraa rahaa woh
naa barqi woh qumqumaY

ghubaaraY bhee uRR gaye
woh bachaY bhee kho gaye

sannaaTay chaa gaye
dar-o-deewaar reh gaye

bargad kee chaahoo’N kee
buss yaadaiN hee reh gayeeN
woh shaamaiN zindagi kee
meraY paas reh gayeeN

Yehi sochtaa huaa uss raat maiN
saaye maiN ChaaNd kaY so gayaa

taaroN kee anjuman rahi udaas raat bhar
Murgh-e-chaman bhee kuch khaamosh reh gayaa

aaNkhoN maiN tertaY huaY kuch khwaab thaY
Akhtar-e-Seh’r kee aamad kaY aasaar thaY

Ru’-e-Ufuq par shafaq phelti gayee
meraY saamnaY laikin kuch paristaan thaY

raat kaY ba’ad woh
ik ajab din thaa
parindoN kee chehchaahuT maiN
maazi kaa dhaNg thaa

maiN leTaa huaa thaa
aaNkhaiN buss ban’d kiye huaY
qumqumaY jal rahai thaY
kamraY maiN har taraf
bachaY khel rahai thaY
ghubaaroN kaY darmiyaaN

mehsoos huaa thaa lams mujhaY
kissi kaY haath kaa
phir jaisaY kissi naY piyaar saY
baaNhoN maiN bhar liyaa

Bosaa diyaa jabeeN par aur kahaa:
“saalgirah mubaarak ho! yeh din aa gayaa”

yeh kahaa aur aaNkhaiN chalak gayeeN
maiN taRap gayaa aur maaN saY lipaT gayaa

duniyaa ko maiN naY, yooN lagaa
baaNhoN maiN bhar liyaa

I started my journey of Gupshup from Cafe` and Poetry Forums.
I wanted to make a difference here but I have realized I can't. I am not allowed to.

I am just another average joe. There are so many better posters than me here. You among all is the one who presents sheer quality in your poems... I am just someone who writes things without any effort of improving - I do not worry too much about the grammar of the poetry because I do not know nothing! Nada!

You, on the other hand, is the real asset of this place. You symbolize quality and you should carry on with your wonderful poetry. Remember, you are my teacher as well :-))

As for me, I was meant to be for a while ... I have shared good times over the years and enjoyed the company of people who liked my poetry... It's just not the same. I find it rather shameful to return to such a serious place where I have been metaphorically expelled.

I do not deserve to be here for all I know :)

I have a complain no less serious than yours. But you know that everything — good or bad — is meant to end one day. Trees shed their leafs every seaon and birds leave their place to reside somewhere else. We are no exception. Did not we leave people and dear things behind us? Those who keep squatting to mourn the past, miss the future altogether. This world is a happening place. Either run with the time or get run over by it. There is no other option. I will always respect whatever decision you take in any matter whatsoever, but being a friend, I have a right to make a point :)
