The seond ODI just about to get underway. From cricinfo:
The first one-dayer at Johannesburg was a damp squib without a single ball being bowled, and the teams - especially India, who have been dogged by bad weather through this season - will be looking to get some cricket under their belt.
The toss: Graeme Smith has won the toss and decided that South Africa will bat. Charl Langeveldt has been included as the extra seamer, with Robin Peterson the man to miss out. India are without Virender Sehwag, still nursing a sore finger, and in his place Wasim Jaffer will get his maiden ODI cap. India have fielded three quick bowlers and two spinners.
The pitch: There are some cracks on the surface, and it is one that will definitely suit the fast bowlers. There’s a slight breeze blowing form the southwest, which will help the quicks. With the evening conditions providing extra incentive to the pace bowlers, the general consensus has been bat, get some good runs on the board, and utilise the conditions with the ball under lights.
They said:
Rahul Dravid: “We did well in these conditions the last time we played here so we will take confidence from that. Each team has its strengths and weaknesses and the challenge is to play well in conditions which are not similar to those you have at home.”
Mickey Arthur:“When India play here they know they need to be on top of their game against pace, and we will attack them with pace. India have a lot of dangerous players, but we are a difficult team to beat at home and we are number two in the world.”
