Ryder Cup.

2008 Ryder Cup has started.

Could this be another record breaking victory for Europe?

Despite not being able to qualify outright for the Ryder cup, I wish Monty had been given a ‘wild card’ by Faldo.

The 2008 Ryder Cup

Re: Ryder Cup.

USA upsets Europe with the first Ryder Cup triumph in 9 years.

I really did not expect the USA to beat Europe, let alone the margin of their victory. Hats off to the USA, they really played well.

Hindsight may be a wonderful thing, but I did not understand why Faldo put three of his best players at match number 10, 11 and 12? He should have tried to get the points on the board by playing them earlier, and try to put the USA under pressure after they had been leading after the first two days?

Re: Ryder Cup.

I am sure European (especially British) newspapers will dump it all on Faldo - and I admit some of his singles line up choices make me wonder too - but remember, Europe lost because their Big Three - Garcia, Harrington and Westwood, failed. Pure and simple. These three are money guys. Hardly scored at all in all three days.

On the other hand, USA benefited from a highly vocal crowd and a bunch of very impressive rookies - Kim, Weekly and Holmes. Holmes in particular was very impressive. Dude has such a huge advantage from the tee. When others are hitting 140+ approaches, he'd be hitting a 70 yard approach. Key is to score a lot of birdies. He was good. Azinger did many smart things, and getting 4 captain picks was really a bright idea.
