Russia has confirmed a deal to sell surface-to-air missiles to Iran, insisting they are for defence only. Russian Defence Minister Sergei Ivanov said a contract to deliver TOR-M1 missiles to Iran had been signed. He said the deal “in no way upsets the balance of forces in the region,” Russian news agencies reported. Iran has reportedly agreed to buy 29 of the mobile air defence systems in a contract worth more than $700m (£400m; 600m euros). The BBC’s Steve Rosenberg in Moscow says the sale is not banned under any treaty, but it has already been criticised by the United States and Israel.
Earlier, Iran announced that it was planning to build a second nuclear power plant in the south of the country, despite coming under pressure from the international community over its nuclear ambitions. Iran has previously said it wants to build 20 nuclear power stations in as many years. Earlier this year the Russian government faced criticism from the West when Moscow agreed to sell missile systems to Syria.

America shoots down Iranian passenger airliners and kills hundreds of inccocents, provides targeted help for Saddam to massacre Iranian's throughout the 1980's, and then ends up slaughtering thousands in Iraq. Terrible.

There is nothing to laugh about here. Russian allies have suffered greatly when it comes to war with US allies. The equation in the Middle East has always been out of balance heavily in favor of US allies.
I am worried about Iranian people. Mullahs may pack and disappear just like their kingpin Ben La-Deen, or the one-eyed beardo of Afghanistan. However the people will suffer.
Even if US is defeated, they may lose few thousand of their soldiers. However the death and destruction to this region will be enormous. At the end of the day, US forces will head home victorious or not. But the mess will be in Pakistan’s neighborhood.
It is utmost important for Iran to comply with whatever conditions are thrown at her. Hudabia treaty is a clear example of how our Messenger saw went with less than ideal terms. Omar rah questioned even the mental state of the Messenger saw. However we all know that ultimately Quraishi’s lost.
These Russians weapons are rather expensive toys that will not help Iranian people from getting out of the miserable life. Heck we in Pak have nukes, but they are of no value to us when it comes to poverty and corruption.
Please I urge you and other pro-Iranian or anti-US (or both) to avoid this empty bravado. It will not bring any thing useful for the region.

Well if you give weapons to incapable armies (and puppet leaders who are more bent on using armed forces as their personal servant) than what can one expect?
Do you believe egypt with its supposed US armour can now defeat Israel?
