Running

You have to incoporate 30 mins of running in your day. What time of day do you think would be most suitable? Morning or evening? Please give your reasons.

Also is it better to run after a meal or before a meal? Or a little both before and after? I’ve been having this discussion with a friend and my take is its better to eat after the run so that while our body is still pumped up it will digest food better. My friend says its better to eat before the run so you can help digest what you just ate. The second idea looks fine too except how do you go running on a full stomach.. sounds kinda wierd. Whats your take on this?

Sincerely,
Captain Lota

Re: Running

run to 7/11 rob em and then run. you will do just fine :k:
no worries about before or after the meal.

Re: Running

Captain, you should run when you aren’t full or hungry but somewhere in the middle. I run whenever I can squeeze it in my schedule, the time of the day really don’t matter.

Re: Running

this is what i do ... i normally get out of office around 5:30 and go to gym around 6pm.. this way i have decent time after lunch and before dinner.... try this and see if it works for you !!

Re: Running

i prefer walks over running. ahh..as to before or after. i'd agree with ahmadjee, that it should be somewhere in between. how can you run on a full stomach? that'd probably give you cramps. and you can't really run when your stomach's empty. you'd just kill yourself.

so in between :) eat...do some other stuff, then go running.

Re: Running

oooooooookkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk.. there are two groups of people ..one who say before, one who say after.. like the healthy temperature of body differs from person to person, so does the theories.. whatever works for u ..

best thing that works for ME is to eat, give it an hour.. and THEN run .. if u can manage elevated heart-rate for 30 minutes, your metabolism shoots for 3 hrs roughly.. same elevation if done for 60 minutes, the rate increases UPTO 6 hrs..

meaning that meal that u ate before, consumes itselfs, starts attacking fat deposits.. and if u eat anything in that 3 or 6 hrs time, that disappears too..

if u r attending serious gym-schedule.. then u should have 1/2 stomach-full worth of food.. (no water) as u start running/working out, start sipping water..

now regarding timings. . human body in normal conditions produces 2 spikes of heat.. one around 10am..and one around 2am.. so for morning shift people, around 5-6pm (after work) and for afternoon shift people (3-11pm, 4-midnite type) before work.. that is around 1pm.. (before work)

if u're in nights.. like i am ..you are in much crappier position. . so only in off-days.. cuz staying up in night time is consuming ENOUGH energy already..

Re: Running

for me definately in the morning. I am a student and i have made my schedule so i can work out one hour in the morning. 3 cardios and 3 lift sessions a week should do wonders for your body.

Its been shown that running on an empty stomach in the morning helps you lose weight faster. If you are trying to lose weight, i suggest you run in the morning. On the other hand, if you are trying to buff up and put on considerable weight then make sure that your stomach has some food to burn before running.

working out is a very subjective thing. It is not an exact science yet because every body's body responds diferrently. However, the only thing that does work is pushing your body further and harder.

Re: Running

They say the best time of the day is evening - like 5-6. I would say run before your main meal. Have a light lunch, snack before your run - like an hour before - fruit, banana, apple something like that.

Re: Running

faizy
why not water???? referring to your post

Re: Running

I run in the morning, three times a week. . . and i run before going on a date sometimes. . . you get this pretty pretty rosey glow :)

Re: Running

sajal, stomach’s system of acids is made to start breaking up food and consuming it.. if u drink water during/right-after meals, the acids get diluted and it slows down the metabolism …BEST is to drink after half hour or hour after meal..because by that time acids have broken the food down, and water cleans the stomach linings…

biolic water, made by the respiratory system in body, is good enough to start the digestion of any food intake..

Re: Running

SO, I also like working out before a big event like a party or function - gives a great boost.
