Republican's Loss and Rrumsfuld's "steping down" is all good news but do you guys really think, it will make a difference at this point. I don't think that things will change that quick. Regardless, how against Democrats are against Iraq war etc etc but right now its not that easy for US to simply come back from Iraq.
I guess, thing will stay the same for a while.
in 2008 GOP platform would be that Dems did not fix the mess that this GOp president and congress created. bet on it..as if 2 years can return the status to some hunky dory situation after the years of messup after messup.
sighz.. When WE, desis, will stop living in KoKo land!!! its nothing but changing of faces.. the foreign policy woun't change over the night, EVEN if Bush is gone...
As we speak Bush is introducing Gates to the press. Don't look now, but while Nancy Pelosi is taking 24 hours to find her butt with both hands, Bush is seizing the day. Obviously this has been planned for some time. Bush does not look that cowed by his "thumping". Round one to Bush.
Experts on ABC and MANBS are discussing that Bush made this decision without consulting Dick Cheney so he is now governing on his own……. Is Cheney he the next in line to go ?
Geez guys, one of the absolute truisms in politics is that change is not as important as how you deal with change. I have no attachment to Bush, I voted for him once, and only because I had met Kerry on a number of occasions and was convinced that the lights were on but nobody was home. Kerry was vapor and a good head of hair. If you looked closely you could see Teddy Kennedy with his hand up the back of Kerrys shirt, making his head bob. The only presidential campaign I ever worked on Was John Anderson in 1980. Sheesh.
If you have been around politics for more than an instant, you realize that if you remain stationary you get shot. All that happened today is getting set for '08, nothing else. Nothing is going to happen in the next two years. Lots of sparks, no fire. While UTD is doing his favorite touchdown celebration dance in the end zone, all that has happened is the score is tied. The race for '08 starts in 90days.
“The Gulf War in the 1990s lasted five days on the ground. I can’t tell you if the use of force in Iraq today would last five days, or five weeks or five months. But it certainly isn’t going to last any longer than that,”
Many good things will happen (or not happen) because of this Democratic victory: Bush will not be able to add any more radical right Supreme Court Justices, there will be oversight on his policies that suspend our rights under the Consititution, there won't be any drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, there will be oversight on the spending in Iraq and his gustapo-like policies in interrogating prisoners, the tax cuts for the rich will not be renewed, the 100 hour agenda for the Demos will be pushed through, and more...
Maybe he should have a "Victory Accomplished" banner for having such a great day, lol. The Dems have him surrounded, he better start making sacrifices because the investigations are coming and the GOP doesn't have a shot at blocking them. The Bush Teams course led them straight into the wall, what else do you expect him to do?
The American people have spoken and what they have told George Bush is you're either with us or you’re against us and if you’re against us then the next two years you aren't going to be doing a damn thing.
C’mon OG, Bush hasn’t found WMD or his butt in 6 years, and he didn’t seize anything today except some well deserved humility. He HAS to be contrite now and listen to the elcectorate. They screamed at him yesterday, even he had to interpret it as a defeat and a necessity to change his policy and tone. He can accomplish nothing in the next 2 years without kissing Nancy’s butt.
And why or even how can this man look cowed? He is way too arrogant for such emotions. His facial expressions looked pained enough on a good day.
