I really don’t know how people come up with rumours out of the blue.
A friend of mine gave me a call on my mobile today and asked me whether I was still in Vienna.
And I was like “Of course I am in Vienna.”
Then he said: “I have heared (from another friend) that you had moved to Pakistan without a word to anyone. And now that other friend is really mad at you, because you didn’t even say Good bye.”
And baichaara Umer was like WHAT?
Calming down I said: “As you can hear yourself, I have not moved anywhere. And even if I ever do, I wouldn’t just disappear like that.”
Khair, later on I called that other friend and she said that she had heared it from her dad and her dad had heared it from another Pakistani family that lives close to where I live.
And I just thought: How do people come up with stories like this?
If I ever got a really, really, really good job offer from Pakistan I might really move there. But this is something that won’t happen anytime soon, I suppose and even if it does, I would at least meet all my friends here in Vienna before going.
I heard it too that oyu were moving to pakistan. someone opened up a thread on MotherJones.com whick had URl to FBI and CIA website that forwarded me to google to gupistan to paklinks to .......................................general.
:D hmmm I heard that instead of getting your hair blonde you were gonna getthem green with streaks of orange in em. It was in a online canadian newspaper.
Umer..considering how gupshup runs on rumours..expressing shock about rumours on gupshup is like telling a blind person that a torch light is very bright :p

Go to see the pakistani family who lives near you and say "I just got back from Pakistan and I met a few members of your family and they told me ......" make something up.
Minime Bhaijan, there’s a scholastic difference between the two. Let me try to explain it by using an example.
Let’s say that a character, call it Benazir, gets pregnant on a world tour where she was not accompanied by her husband.
Rumor: Banezir is to deliver Love Child of her English lover.
Conspiracy: Mossad plants a Jewish seed in Pakistan.
You see there’s a distinct and underlying difference in both ways. Rumors are harmless, whereas Conspiracies are done to sway the public opinion in one way or another, hence, Sukee Layna.
Umer, you are lucky it was just about the move. Some years ago, someone (actually I know the a-hole) started a rumor that I had 5 kids and divorced. He convinced my parents that this was the truth so my dad called me 4 in the morning to inquire about his grand kids. I told him they were on their way but not quite there yet. :)
