The hotel I’m having my baraat/reception at is giving us a complimentary bridal suite for the night where we will be staying. What do I do for the ruksati? I’ve seen most people go out to their cars and drive to wherever else they’re staying. Haha I don’t want my ruksati to be everyone walking me out to the elevators to go up to my bridal suite (which is on the same floor as where all the people who are traveling to the wedding are also staying)! Or has that been done before and it’s not weird? I’ve also heard of some people walking out to a car waiting for them, and after the car does a loop or two around the hotel they come back and go up to their bridal suite.
Sigh, the little details that pop up last minute right before the event that you totally forgot to think about!
Re: Ruksati when you’re staying the night in the same hotel as your baraat event?
Yeah, I think it’s weird when the bride goes up to her room from the elevator immediately after the rukhsati. People I know that didn’t want to do that had the car waiting outside. They had taken pictures together during dinner so they didn’t get to eat much during the wedding. They took the car out to the some place (In N Out usually…woohoo CA!) and then just brought it up back to their suite after most of the people had left/gone up to their rooms.
Plus the rukhsati to a car looks better in videos/pictures, me thinks!

Lol be glad you get to go to a hotel for your rukhsati and not having to spend it in his childhood bedroom next door to his parents and uncles and aunties
Re: Ruksati when you're staying the night in the same hotel as your baraat event?
You go for a drive ...more than just one or two chakkars around the hotel....to give guests time to leave and you know how our people love to linger around. Unless you'll enter the hotel from another door to where you won't bump into guests that are leaving as you're trying to make your way up yo your suite.
So. Go for a drive. It'll be a nice change and you can relax for 30 mins to an hour or so before coming back to the hotel. And it's not a weird dilemma, hardly a problem at all. Congrats on your wedding.

I had my ruhksati in the hotel…it wasn’t awkward or weird or strange at all. Goodbyes were said at the lounge area/entrance of the ballroom. My sisters, cousins and a couple of friends and his bhabi went in the elevator with us up to the bridal suite…they did a dhood pillai rasm, we took some photos, everyone chatted a little and then left..and it was just us then. It was very relaxed, didn’t realize it should be done any other way lol
Re: Ruksati when you’re staying the night in the same hotel as your baraat event?
Thanks, I think that’s what I’ll end up doing! I just realized that our hotel is near the water so we could drive down and walk/talk a bit before we go back. Haha, I laugh at the thought of finding an alternate entrance to sneak back in…it feels like we’d be hiding from paparazzi!
This is really sweet! The only thing with me is that his family is from 4 hours away and everyone is staying in the same hotel and on the same floor as our bridal suite, so they’d all come back up with us (and he has a big family mA).
