i am not married yet but then i can tell about my sister who got married last year...well in our family there is a tradition that during the rukhsati the sister of the bride goes with her to her sasural ..so i was in the car with my sister...i was sitting in the front and my bro in law and sister was in the backseat ...and yea my sister's BIL was driving the car
When I got married my husband and I were in teh backseat while his brother drove us to the hotel…it didn’t matter to me…in Pak I’ve seen the bride sit in the bakc while the groom is in the frontseat…
lol i remember my friend telling me that during her rukhsati, she, her husband and her 3 nands were all sitting on the back seat..they were stepping on her lehenga and then she has to fix her lehenga before getting off the car...
it's quite funny how people make a big deal out of everything. i personally dnt see the reason for the whole family to go with the couple cuz the bride may nt feel comfortable crying with the new family around. I dnt understand the want to sit with the couple, lolz.
I am not married, but during my bhabhi's rukhsati my parents and a driver was in the car with them. Bhabhi and bro were on backseat, bhabhi in middle and bro and mum on each side. Dad in front seat and driver in duh driver seat :p ..
No tradition as such, but we left the venue very late to return to our village, so the dulha dulhan being alone in the car wouldnt have been safe because of thieves etcetc
For my ruksati I sat in the back with my phupo and my MIL. My husband sat in the front seat while his uncle drove the car. The car was pretty full. It was quiet interesting ride :)
After Rukhsati, it was husband, me and my Sis in the back seat while my jeth drove the car and jethani sat in the front with him. We had great time...
Since my in-laws place was quite near to the venue.. we went for a ride, had fresh juice etc...had fun..
Then passed by my home, listening to the music.. we chilled since we were passing time. While my MIL, SIL were getting the flowers etc ready for the dulhan's reception :)
Loved the rasmein at home!
Im not married yet, but my cousin told me on her wedding (she got married in Lahore, and then they drove to Peshawer that same day). It was her in the back in the middle, her MIL on one side, Nand on the other. Husband in the front, and her BIL drove the car. It would have been a long awkward drive for me!!!
we drove back into town in a limo, just us two... and our photogs! haha they didn't have a car so they hung around until the end and then we went back together. it was funny. luckily we like them so we spent the entire drive back chatting.
I remember my cousins wedding, my little niece who is 13, cried because she wanted to sit with the dulhan. I was so emmbaressed!! no one else seemed to care lol
Although romantically speaking, groom should be sitting with his wife but if MIL and SIL are sitting then it makes sense too. That 1/2 ton of dress that dulhans wear need an army of two people to support when she is getting in and out of that car. Dulha holding it for her would look a bit cheesy in my opinion.
