rukhsati and throwing rice behind?

Re: rukhsati and throwing rice behind?

Just make sure ure not standing behind the dulhan, and if so, wear safety glasses or keep your eyes closed!

Re: rukhsati and throwing rice behind?

dumb and superstitious

Re: rukhsati and throwing rice behind?

there is no significance FF.....just tradition i suppose. I have never seen it happen personally....i usually see people throwing rose petals.

I must say though....I agree with **Hareem **here.....with cost of rice increasing I dont think it is very wise to waste it. even if it was dirt cheap it's still throwing food down the drain....imagine how many poor families you could feed with that rice :(
what a waste of food!

:hehe: so true! was thinking the same thing. not only that I dont want to have to spend the entire night picking rice grains out of my hair!!

Re: rukhsati and throwing rice behind?

^ haha I have however seen grains of rice stuck in ppls beards... dhari mey tinkka sunna tha lekin dhari mey chawwalz! heh!

Aik lateefa yaad aa gya:

There was a sikh who was invited to a meal by his muslim nawaab friend, during the meal some rice gets stuck in Nawaab's beard, Nawaab's servant says to him, " Sarkaar! aap kay baaghon main mor naach rahe hain ". Nawab understands him and quickly cleans his beard.

Sikh notices everything and next time he invites the nawab at his place and asks his servants to do what exactly nawab's servants did.

So during the meal sikh deliberately puts rice in his beard when his servant is close by and his servant shouts out " Sardaar Ji! taaday khetan wich soor pajjan re nay".

^ :rotfl:

btw all of these rasams that we have and when asked u actually get to hear really meaningful reasons behind them

like throwing chawal will give everything back to her father and holding quran over bride’s head will give her prosperity

but does these things actually do that??

does throwing of rice will actually return everything back to her father??

or will holding quran will bring prosperity to bride???

if yes then i dont mind but if they dont then wats the point having them??:chai:

many girls get divorce even quran was held over head right??

and i have never seen that a bride threw rice and her father’s bank got filled with money

so if these rasams dont work wonders then y we do that and still think that they will work magic

I personally wouldn't want rice to be thrown over my head... I think it's a superstition and I don't believe in superstitions... but if someone wants to do it than it's their personal choice...

Re: rukhsati and throwing rice behind?

I think back in the old simpler days they prolly did it outside, where the birds would come and eat the grains later.

Re: rukhsati and throwing rice behind?

i have never seen this tradition in my family Allhamdullilah,

Re: rukhsati and throwing rice behind?

hareem, ure absolutely right. Throwing rice on floor and walking over them is just plain insult to food, and it is not allowed in islam. Im pretty sure people who are doing this ritual are influenced by the indian dramas shown on tv ; ridiculous.

It is not sweet, whatever way u look at it…think about it.. they’re throwing rice on floor.. and im sure nobody would start gathering it to cook..so its just wasting rice.. i do not see anything sweet in that. I actually left wedding after seeing that.. and i started thinking maybe the groom is hindu..but he was also muslim.. that was just shocking to me..never seen anything like this before.

And even if that means that rizq of that house wont end by throwing rice behind.. again, its kind of thinking that the only reason they were getting rizq was becuz of daughter and not becuz of Allah’s will.. im not sure if im making sense here..but bottom line is..its non-sense!
