Rugby World Cup

Re: Rugby World Cup

Man what a rollercoaster of a game between fiji and wales. very entertaining.

Re: Rugby World Cup

Gridiron without the protection! :)

I have never heard of a major match where the field was invaded et cetera. What I like about rugby is that seldom will a "weaker" team beat a bigger team unless they are extremely motivated. In foorball it often happen that inferior teams draw with superior teams. I suppose it make for good betting.

Today South Africa will teach the USA of Mr Bush something.....

Re: Rugby World Cup

I was rooting for Fiji since they are from the southern hemisphere. Wonderful game for them.

Good match between Scotland and Italy as well.

Tonight the Argentina-Ireland game will be a good hard one. Will show what the Argentinians have.

Re: Rugby World Cup

isn't today SA vs the US.

go bokke!! gonna watch it with my friends.

Re: Rugby World Cup

Argentina is better than I imagined. Hernandez is certainly one of the best players in the world. That play where he kicked the ball and caught it himself to eventually set up a try was just pure world class.

Re: Rugby World Cup

oh wow SA curshed USA...

Re: Rugby World Cup

:)

The Springboks thought they just pitch and each can then run through and score. Hope they have now learned that even weaker teams can offer good resistance. Hope they understand that they need about 15-20 minutes to settle everyone, subdue the weaker opposition and THEN only play wide.

I was glad that the coach did not look happy.

Now for Fiji.

It will be fantastic games between England-Australia (Australia should have the edge), and France-N.Zeeland. Anything can happen in the last game, just depending on which mentally prepared French team arive the day.

Re: Rugby World Cup

England V Aus

Great match going on.

After 26 minutes of the first half Enlgand lead 6-3.

Go England
Go Wilkinson.

Re: Rugby World Cup

England are through to semis. Take That Wallabies. :hula:

12/10

Re: Rugby World Cup

yeah boy, the aussies were so full of smacl talk that I am happy that they are booted by england.

their sorry ass manager had been making excuses even before the match, wait for more of the same from him.

Is it in austrealian sport culture to never admit that the better team won? :D

Re: Rugby World Cup

First the Poms beat the Roos' than the Surrender Monkeys defeat the Kiwis. This was certainly the least expected scenario.

Re: Rugby World Cup

They were overconfident.

For a long time now the NZ and SA teams moaned about their illegal scrumming technique. The ref started to blow them up, scrums stabilizes, and they continually were on the back foot, being push back at will.

Take that Aussies!

Re: Rugby World Cup

SA through but not before Fiji gave them a good run for their money. Well played Fiji.

Re: Rugby World Cup

The Rugby world is certainly turning extremely competitive these days. At the moment, it may very well be the most competitive sport after Soccer.

Re: Rugby World Cup

That you can say again! I was worried when they equalised on 20-20.

All the quarterfinals were VERY close contests. I hope they don't reduce the number of nations competing as some have asked.

Re: Rugby World Cup

no no, they should not, this is one exciting cup this year.

Re: Rugby World Cup

Although I don't follow rugby (I don't even know the basic rules!) with any great passion it came to me as a big surprise when I heard from someone on Sunday that England had beaten Australia 12-10. England maybe the defending champions but I never thought that they would get this far in this World Cup esp. after the way they started the tournament.

Re: Rugby World Cup

Well played England.

Looks as if it might be a rematch between them and the Springboks in the final, if the Springboks are not complacent against Argentinia.

Where did things go wrong for Franch? In my opinion France's forwards were better than Englands, but the backline kept on kicking good posession away, AND they stopped playing with 9 minutes on the clock.

If South Africa win against Argentinia (and they should), I just hope they don't look back at the 36-0 win earlier. This is almost a completely different England team with Johnny Wilkinson at half-back. If they think it will be another 36-0, they will lose and England will be the first team who will retain the cup.

In general I believe the Springboks forwards are even better than the French and should be able to dominate the forwards of England. Will be a very hard game.

Argentinia vs South Africa? I expect Argentinia to hoist the ball as they did against France and hope for mistakes. Otherwise I don't think they have a chance against the Springboks.

Re: Rugby World Cup

I now think England may well win the cup. GO ENGLAND GO

Re: Rugby World Cup

France forwards better than England? Isn't it the other way around? England was completely over powering France up front (atleast in the last home stretch) and the only competent back they had was Wilkinson. France, on the other hand, were undone by their own bone headed decisions (many by their backs) and some dodgy passes late in the game.
