Rude/Snobby Employees at MAC Stores??!

I am a huge MAC lover…Even if I’m not buying, I love going inside the store and just browsing around playing with the colors. But I have recently noticed that the employees that work at MAC are so darn rude!!! They act like they are big-shots, are terribly snobby ice queens and look at you like you’re a peasant that shouldn’t be in there! Not to mention waiting so long for someone to ACTUALLY come help you…And even then I don’t get help until I initiated it and it was minimal help I got.

I just had an incident on Friday with this guy employee that worked at the MAC Pro store that was so rude i’m going to file a complaint. When he was ringing my purchases, I was asking him a few questions about the products I was purchasing, and the entire time nor did he look up at me in a friendly way and answered in one word answers…I mean why are you so snotty and rude? You work at a dang mall for crying out loud…

Some employees are super nice and will help, but a lot of them are “fake nice” and rude at the same time and act like they are the best cause they work at a MAC store, I’ve seen it with other customers being treated this way as well.. Sephora employees are soo nice, but when it comes to MAC I’m not liking going in the store anymore…I will be sticking with shopping online for now on…

Anyone else feel this way?

Re: Rude/Snobby Employees at MAC Stores??!

I've never had anything but good service at MAC.
I definitely think that you should report your incident. Some people are just not cut out to be in the customer service industry.

Re: Rude/Snobby Employees at MAC Stores??!

Have never had a problem at the MAC or even any Sephora locations even the one's at Beverly Hills or Hollywood.

Perhaps that person was just having an off day, but if you feel this strongly than it's a good idea to file a complaint.

I actually would have said something to that person, if he was being rude for no reason?

Re: Rude/Snobby Employees at MAC Stores??!

I've experienced rude/uncaring behavior from sales people at MAC, Saks, and yes.....even at Sephora. I think it all comes down to the individual people.

You should definitely send a letter to MAC corporate regarding your experience. Include the specific store address. If you don't remember the employees name, at least write the date/time you were there and a general physical description of the person.

Re: Rude/Snobby Employees at MAC Stores??!

It's not just the US.. happened to me in Australia as well. I went to the MAC counter, the mall was dead, and the girl just had no interest whatsoever to serve me. I really did want to buy many things but maybe she thought i looked too plain or cheap to buy MAC products (that's the feeling i got anyway).. so i went to the next counter, spent $300. Something in my brain went snap then, so i went back to her counter, calld her supervisor. Showed her my receipt and products, and told her that this could've been your sales had your rep felt like serving me.

Re: Rude/Snobby Employees at MAC Stores??!

Someone in my husband's family who did that, but his purchase was much bigger a car, yes a car - he went into a BMW dealership in his sweats after being at the gym, but waited around for an hour and not a single person paid him any attention, so he went next door to the Acura dealership and bought a car the very same day, came back to the BMW dealership and told the branch manager exactly how he was treated!

Customer service is VERY important for any business, I took a business course a few years back and our prof told us which I can still remember "It's not the employer that pays the wages, they only handle the money, It's the CUSTOMERS who pay the wages'

Pakieyez, keep us updated on your complaint issue and good luck :)

Re: Rude/Snobby Employees at MAC Stores??!

I've never had anything but good service at MAC. Even when the store is packed full of people, someone will always ask me if I need help.

Re: Rude/Snobby Employees at MAC Stores??!

I've never had a terribly rude incident at MAC, but I have noticed that most of them are incredibly snobby. Once they talk to you and see that you know what you're talking about they get better. They're probably just gassed up that they're working for the worlds most popular cosmetic company lol. On top of that they're always dressed up and overdone which probably gets to their head also.

What I HATE is if you ask to check out a product and you play with it for 10 seconds they just assume that you want to purchase it. If I ask to look at 3-4 things, and I play around with them, they'll be like "Okay so i'll ring you up for this, this, this and that come right this way" and i'm like um..NO I was just looking, I have to figure out if I want it first. They seem to force things on you which I don't appreciate. MAC isn't the cheapest, people can't just purchase everything they set eyes on there.

Re: Rude/Snobby Employees at MAC Stores??!

always experienced BAD service from Mac people ,they are extra ordinary rude where i live :bummer: i have stopped purchasing Mac products just becoz of them

I’ve had a similar incident like this at Sephora. Who knows what their criteria is to do their job. Definitely let them know so that this can be a training point. You have the receipt so you know the cashiers name.

Re: Rude/Snobby Employees at MAC Stores??!

Wow girl, you showed them whose boss! thats a good move! I'm gonna do that next time!

Re: Rude/Snobby Employees at MAC Stores??!

WOW what a great way to get back at them!!!! seriously car dealer ppl are soo rude as well! they work on commission so I guess they don't wanna deal with people who they think are wasting their time. Ugh I hate rude people!

Re: Rude/Snobby Employees at MAC Stores??!

yes MAC employees are very rude and snobby in my opinion. make a complaint to the manager and make a bigggggggggg deal out of it - it will subside very quickly - i aussure you

Re: Rude/Snobby Employees at MAC Stores??!

Yes some or even most of them are plain rude! I think because one of my friends work at MAC, the rest kinda know me so I havent experienced anything bad since we became friends. I do know what you're talking about though as that's how I used to feel.

Re: Rude/Snobby Employees at MAC Stores??!

YESSS!!

I have noticed the EXACT same thing about MAC employees her in the UK too. Every single thing you've written - from the fact they're always too busy and you hardly ever get seen, to the fact that when you finally do get seen they try their hardest to get rid of you asap, to the fact that even if there's no-one around they will VERY RARELY if ever approach YOU and ask if you want any help. Every other store does that, except MAC stores. I just accepted it's part of their snooty ethos and generally only go in there if I KNOW what I want to buy, so I can go straight to the til rather than wait for their service. But yeah, complaining is a good idea!

Re: Rude/Snobby Employees at MAC Stores??!

have no direct experience with cosmetics employees, but at a designer store the sales guys had attitudes like they themselves were armani, or prada. I bring them down to earth if i am with someone just talking to them about how looks like everyone thinks they are the designer, not an employee to serve the designer's customers

Re: Rude/Snobby Employees at MAC Stores??!

You know, I was about to say I've never experienced it....but then recently I've been going to the Mac at Macy's, and they are just so....unresponsive, and unhelpful and just ignore you.

Re: Rude/Snobby Employees at MAC Stores??!

I actually have this service in most MAC places, not because they're snobby, but because they think they're special. You get the occasional half-decent employee with a fake smile and some okay service, but I've noticed a lot of asian girls tend to work in the London stores of MAC and they're usually caked on with make-up, so obviously they are experts.
It hasn't stopped me buying from there, but means I don't ask them for a lot of advice cos i won't like what they recommend.

Re: Rude/Snobby Employees at MAC Stores??!

Personally I think lack of service comes from wariness of the staff – the ones I go to Westfield, Selfridges and Carnaby street – you would think they give things out for free when you see how damn busy they are and its non stop!

I can stop by Westfield (west) Mac on any Monday/Tuesday evening and there is still a queue most of the time. Once I get through to my turn I find they are helpful/nice but they do seem overworked and you can tell they want to get you done so they can help the next person.

As for the caked up make up – They have looks they all have to wear hence why they all have the same stuff on!

Although I don’t get around to going there as much anymore I always found them to be most helpful in the High St Kensington Branch which could be down to it being a lot calmer and quieter!

Re: Rude/Snobby Employees at MAC Stores??!

what makes MAC employees special.. stupid they think this way. They are damn employees who are getting paid to do their job. They don't own the company. Overall, I don't think I've had terrible experience but yes at one specific MAC location.. man they are rude. I always see soemone or the other fighting with an employee on how they were treated. The MAC at Times Square is very good but I think that's because they are overstaffed all the time so they do give attention to every customer. I prefer going there for this reason. Sephora, I don't care about their customer service as much because when I go there I usually know what I want and just go get that.
