yep… I remember it being the hottest thing around in the early to mid eighties. I think my parents bought me three or four of them (different sizes). Little did I know at the time that I’d be teaching a decision sciences class where we’d use this as an optimization problem. interesting observation Umar. Actually, there are only a limited number of starting positions, so theoretically one could make a solution for each starting position separately. Of course quite a lot will have overlapping solutions. Hmmmmm
I had one as recently as about 2 months ago and then my neices took it. I used to have a mini cube too with about 2" edges. I don't remember ever solving it completely but I do remember being very close and then getting tired and just switchign around the coloured stickies at the end :D
For what it is worth ... I can solve the puzzle every time Alhumdulillah within 150 or so moves. You just need to know 6 or 7 basic combinations and when to use them. I bought a new one recently.
