Rs353m allocated for development schemes in Jamshoro

HYDERABAD, Nov 22: Jamshoro District Nazim Malik Asad Sikandar on Thursday approved an allocation of Rs353.134 million for development schemes of electricity, gas, water, construction of sewerage system, roads, health schemes, and for education in the four talukas of the district.

He was presiding over a meeting of the district officials and elected representatives.

He directed the officials and the elected representatives to monitor all the development schemes to ensure that quality material used in all development schemes.

He said education and health sectors were the top priority of the district government and added that all-out efforts should be made to eliminate disparity between the developed and backward areas.

In his briefing, district officer finance Mohammad Siddique Buriro said that under the Sindh Education Reforms Programme, an amount of Rs100 million had been earmarked for the promotion of education.

Giving details, he said an amount of Rs43.272 million would be spent to construct one additional room in all the 72 primary schools of the district, Rs25 million has been earmarked for the construction of 23 schools without shelter while Rs31.728 million would be spent on the repairs of 220 primary schools.

The district nazim announced an allocation of Rs60 million from his special funds for 36 other schemes while Rs21.920 million were allocated for four water supply schemes in Kohistan area.

Under the district development programme, an amount of Rs6 million was approved for Manjhand water supply scheme.

The district nazim upgraded nine primary schools to middle schools for which Rs20 million were allocated. Similarly, Rs16.64 million were earmarked for adding two rooms each to 10 shelterless primary schools.

An amount of Rs12 million was allocated for the construction of science lab in 10 higher secondary schools and Rs16.6 million was earmarked to provide computers in eight high schools of the district.
