Someone very rightly said we are a nation of strange people. When we like someone we become mad in this love and if we hate someone we go to extreme. Balance and patience is not in our collective national life. Lot of people had long been praising Shaukat Aziz as Finance Minister that he was not taken any salary. Now when he became P.M many people desired that he would still not get any salary. Zulfiqar Bhutto also announced he would not take salary from national treasury. The news papers praised this in their editorial. I think in her one tenure Benazir also did not take her salary. Not taking this salary in our part of the world is taken that such a person is so honest, loyal and has heart for the poor of the country hence he does not want to be burden on nation. Recently many people have desired other leaders and politicians to act as Shaukat Aziz did and avoid taking any salary. Our writers and column writers are the worst opportunist people in the world. On such occasions they start drumming their tamoolas. One very senior column writer wrote his column in praise of P.I.A Chairman Ahmad Saeed that he is taking any salary. He wrote so much this is first Chairman who did not give any favour to friends and relative. He wrote if this Chairman wish to give some favour, and he quoted the example of free ticket demand, the Chairman then pays form his own pocket and give ticket as free to the friend. Column was full of praises. Reading what is coming now a days about Chairman we can well understand why should some people on chair need any salary at all. First came about awarding of P.I.A shoes contracts to his own Service Industry and no contradiction ever appeared from him. Then came P.I.A cargo scandal saying this contract backing date has been given to a near nephew. Now a third one has been reported by weekly South Asia Tribune USA. Why should he need any salary.
