rpm

Has anybody tried an rpm or a spinning class?
What are the effects? Does it help in weight loss?
And also, it seems like it would bulk up your legs/thighs?

Thanks for any info.

Re: rpm

What are rpm and spinning classes?

Re: rpm

Indoor cycling?
They're pretty intense from what I can gather..

Re: rpm

I've nvr tried it...my sister has and says she loves it. It's helping her rid of that after pregnany weight gain....and no it doesnt bulk up ur legs.

oh and you burn a load of calories 2.

Re: rpm

Its burns approximately the same number of calories as jogging, but is easier than jogging. Jogging and cycling don't really bulk up your legs, if that was the case then marathon runners would have really thick legs.

Re: rpm

I love rpm..the only thing I hate is the soreness you get after sitting on those tiny cycle seats that really dig into you...oucchh.

Re: rpm

How long for and how often would you have to do it in order to see the results?

Re: rpm

As for bulking up of legs, it more or less 'tunes' your legs to optimum condition of pedaling. It 'defines' the shapes of your thighs and legs, gives it more of a physical touch to it after a period. To my understanding, perhaps the only time of seeing any muscle mass in your legs is when you perform exercises that hit that area.

Re: rpm

So I attended the first class last night. Let me first say,VitalSigns101 you're right, the seats are a killer. It as was a bit uncomfortable because of that, but the instructor said that you get used to it in a couple of weeks. Or you could also get a gel seat cover, 10 bucks I think.
Other than that , it was a pretty intense cardio session.
