Rosacea

I blush all the time. My face goes red when I eat hot food. Go out in the summer. On the beach where its too windy. After a shower. After excercising at the gym. Probably just about any activity I get involved in.
It usually affects Caucasians. I have not met any South Asians with this problem.
Does anyone else here suffer from rosacea? If yes, please let me know your experience in treating it.

Re: Rosacea

Depending on the extent of your rosacea successful treatments can range from using a Vitamin K Cream to laser treatment.

What kind of treatments have you already tried?

Re: Rosacea

I have it. Along with all those things you mentioned, I am very strongly affected by stress, have increased heat sensitivity, and tan very unaesthetically. I also have excessively sensitive skin with a very strong inclination to break out. To make it worse, I live in a place that gets extremely cold in the winders with strong chafing wind and pretty hot in the summer (even 20 C is too hot for me).

I don't go to a dermatologist, whatever they say is too depressing and they are always intent on putting me under some drastic treatment that leaves me fearing for my skin. Plus they keep telling me this is chronic. Well it might be, but I have learned to manage it by identifying what causes it and eliminating those factors as much as I can. Plus a a very miserable diet with very minimal spices, saturated fats, dairy products, and meat has worked to reduce my skin problems.

Treat your skin gently. Shower with lukewarm water and don't take long showers. And exercise only moderately.

Re: Rosacea

I have tried all sorts of antibiotic medicines. I have not tried Vitamin K cream yet. I had consultations with one of the best doctors here in London who does Laser Treatments. However he did not take up my case as I my skin is too dark for him to take the risk. The laser treatment is usually prescribed for Caucasians with light skin.

I am currently using face washes and creams with glycolic acid. This seems to help so far. Also I do not drink tap water anymore. Its always mineral water for me. I am also on 500mg of Erythromycin.

Re: Rosacea

What sort of treatment are you currently on?

Re: Rosacea

None. I don't fancy the idea of becoming dependent on medications and topical treatments that have other side effects (e.g. photosensitivity, peeling skin, increased susceptibility to infections over the long term). Just eat well, exercise, drink lots of water, and avoid stress. Rosacea is very manageable, at least it is for me and I see a very direct effect of what I put in my body showing up on my face.

Why don't you drink tap water?

Re: Rosacea

I find that my Rosacea has become a lot more manageable, once I stopped drinking tap water. This may be just psychological. How long have you had Rosacea? I have had it for the past 8-10 years since I was in my early twenties.
