Question: Is money the root of evil?

Re: Root of evil

..without doubt!!!!

Re: Root of evil

^^ So you think that money is the root of all evil?

Have you ever asked what is the root of money? Money is a tool of exchange, which can't exist unless there are goods produced and men able to produce them. Money is the material shape of the principle that men who wish to deal with one another must deal by trade and give value for value. Money is not the tool of the moochers, who claim your product by tears, or of the looters, who take it from you by force. Money is made possible only by the men who produce.
Is this what you consider evil?*

GP you are an unintelligent twerp , make a new id and find another way to start an argument.

Re: Root of evil

Hey old man, that was wise. So, how old are ya?

Re: Root of evil

When you accept money in payment for your effort, you do so only on the conviction that you will exchange it for the product of the effort of others. It is not the moochers or the looters who give value to money. Not an ocean of tears not all the guns in the world can transform those pieces of paper in your wallet into the bread you will need to survive tomorrow. Those pieces of paper, which should have been gold, are a token of honor—your claim upon the energy of the men who produce. Your wallet is your statement of hope that somewhere in the world around you there are men who will not default on that moral principle which is the root of money, Is this what you consider evil?

Have you ever looked for the root of production? Take a look at an electric generator and dare tell yourself that it was created by the muscular effort of unthinking brutes. Try to grow a seed of wheat without the knowledge left to you by men who had to discover it for the first time. Try to obtain your food by means of nothing but physical motions—and you'll learn that man's mind is the root of all the goods produced and of all the wealth that has ever existed on earth.
But you say that money is made by the strong at the expense of the weak? What strength do you mean? It is not the strength of guns or muscles. Wealth is the product of man's capacity to think. Then is money made by the man who invents a motor at the expense of those who did not invent it? Is money made by the intelligent at the expense of the fools? By the able at the expense of the incompetent? By the ambitious at the expense of the lazy? Money is made—before it can be looted or mooched—made by the effort of every honest man, each to the extent of his ability. An honest man is one who knows that he can't consume more than he has produced.

Re: Root of evil

Did you say it’s the love of money that’s the root of all evil?

To love a thing is to know and love its nature. To love money is to know and love the fact that money is the creation of the best power within you, and your passkey to trade your effort for the effort of the best among men. It’s the person who would sell his soul for a nickel, who is loudest in proclaiming his hatred of money—and he has good reason to hate it. The lovers of money are willing to work for it. They know they are able to deserve it.
Let me give you a tip on a clue to men’s characters: the man who damns money has obtained it dishonorably; the man who respects it has earned it.

Re: Root of evil

Not so wise and depending on your age, maybe not so old either!

The quote “money is the root of all evil” that everyone knows is a partial quote from the Bible. I just gave the full version. Some Bibles have “…money is a root…” which I think is better since there do exist other roots such as “power lusting”, etc.

I was called “old” by a certain young man on Gupshup who is in his early twenties, and the lable stuck. Definitely as old as his father at least…but not retired yet.

Re: Root of evil

Partly agree with you. There is a difference between “love” and “respect”. Money should not be the creation of the best power in oneself. One should be able to reach “the best power” even when poor. All depends on character.

Re: Root of evil

bhaaaaaaaaaaa haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa :teary2:

now i didnt know i was the oldest around here. even old man saab knows my age! what a tragedy :crying:

Verizon saab, old man is right. Look, there is a difference between love and respect. you should even respect the floor and try not to walk hard on it. or a door. try not to bang it (learned it yeah, yeah, have learned it :teary1: ) similarly, respect what makes you have a better life but love as in madness like… crazy love is not a good thing. and if i relate another thread about people living in a certain place cz of money. then nothig is more important than self. give self necessary respect first and then to other things.

Re: Root of evil

i mean if you let your soul/body be abused by someone else or abuse it yourself (not providing to it its needs), is same as not respecting it. so nature gave you something to take care of. and if you dont, nobody will.

ahh... am i off topic? saawwiiee

Re: Root of evil

It was an affectionate label :stuck_out_tongue: But you are definitely wise. I still remember you making sure us “kids” kept our cool on Dangy’s cricket forum. Its good to see you are still posting.

Re: Root of evil

Nothing i would discuss in public without his permission. Sorry. You should ask him whatever you want to know. He is very forthcoming so don't worry.
