Ronnie O'Sullivan denies conversion to Islam

O’Sullivan denies conversion to Islam

The former world snooker champion Ronnie O’Sullivan last night said that
recent reports that he had converted to Islam were misleading.

“There has been some confusion recently. I am not a Muslim. However, I
am privileged with the friendship of Muslims who have been there for me
and I value as true friends.”

O’Sullivan, widely regarded as the game’s most gifted player, has often
been front-page news. Rarely, though, has anything grabbed the headlines
like his purported conversion to Islam. But last night he said it was
all a big misunderstanding.

"Yes, I’m interested in Islam, but I’m also interested in Buddhism and
Christianity. Perhaps I’ve been naive and given people the wrong
impression, and if I have I’m sorry.

"It was a bit stupid of me, I suppose. I went along to a mosque because
I’m interested in Islam, but I didn’t know anyone would be interested in
converting me.

"Actually, even when they called me to the front of the mosque I didn’t
know what was happening. They were very friendly, and in my ignorance I
thought it was just a social thing - their way of welcoming a stranger.
I felt a bit overawed by all the people around me, especially because
they were talking all the time.

“I’m the kind of person who doesn’t want to offend, and I just thought
I’d keep everyone happy then politely leave. But now I know
differently.”

O’Sullivan said he was in two minds whether to make any public statement
about the “conversion” but felt it was important to set the record
straight before the new season starts at Preston this weekend.

“Everyone knows I’m not the most disciplined of fellas,” he admitted. “I
suppose that’s why the press thought it was such a good story.”

We muslims know that Islam is the truth based upon studying the belief which convinces our mind, so why then is it a big issue when a famous personality from the west converts to Islam? Many individuals convert to islam every day as well as leave it, what is important for the muslims if we want to give dawah to the non-muslims is to establish the Islamic state which will rule according to islam and will be the beacon of light for the non-muslims to view Islam in its entirety as a complete system for humanity.

On the contrary, when big people like him convert to Islam, it generates alot of interest and publicity. Remember when Mohammad Ali converted? Now dont tell me the image of Islam wasnt spread because of that guy. As for the khalifah state, no one really cares about that anywayz.

I remember the news in Pakistan that Prince Charles had converted to Islam, becuase he made a speech saying he respect Islam and read the Quran.

And then Chelsea Clinton also converted to Islam becuase she took a course about Islam.

They probably do want a representative system which is concerned for thwir well being, if a khilafah can fill that need, that can be a good option. However with the alerrnatives that are currently present as far as the champions of the islamic system, I doubt that they have the capability to do that. This ranges from the fast eroding alliance of MMA in Pakistan down to lesser rag tag groups like HT or al cartoon..sorry mohajiroun.

I want islamic state

see that was simple enough

now you try you want capitalism or Islam

Assalamu aleykum

What you mentioned about people not caring about an Islamic state is your understanding of how people feel. But those same muslims want masjids, janazah when someone dies and fast in ramadhan. So why is it then they dont want an Islamic state which is from the belief as well? Its because the concept of ruling according to Islam has been removed from their minds and needs to be presented to them by you me and all the sincere muslims who are working for the victory of Islam over man made systems.

The namaz is not a good option for exercise its an obligation, fasting is not a good option for detoxing your body, its another obligation, The khilafah is not a good option for ruling, for muslims its the only option not according to HT but Allah swt. Those who obey Allah will be rewarded and those who disobey will be punished, this life is one and their is no return so we should make the most of it in terms of following Islam.
