Ronald Reagan dies at 93 years of age.

.

We love you Ronnie...

I was reading part of his bio the other day. Very interesting. He will be missed by many I am sure. I enjoyed his style of communication.

Bedtime for Bonzo.

I was reading a report online about Reagans Family kids and kin coming to visit him as he was in a serious condition, and I heard on TV that he has passed away.

It really shocked me.

It seems he was the most popular President so far, and the best thing about him was his PENMANSHIP.

I saw an Interview some time back of Nancy Reagan, and it seems she has saved all his little notes and letters since they started dating.

Now thats what I call Romantic!!!

May God Bless His Soul.

Ina Lillahe Wa Ina Illaihae Rajioon
May God bless his soul :flower1:

Regan was very presidential..when i think of a president that is the image that comes into mind. way above carter, bush1 and bush2... clinton came close.

love him or hate him, he left his mark on teh world by ripping the iron curtain, althoughr Gorby deserves tons of credit for that as well.

Europe Recalls Reagan Fondly, Arabs Don’t

I wonder if there’s anybody that the Arabs do like? (besides Osama I suppose)

Europe Recalls Reagan Fondly, Arabs Don’t

LONDON - Former President Ronald Reagan (news - web sites) was remembered across Europe for his role in breaking down Cold War divisions and opening the path to independence for Soviet bloc nations. Arab nations recalled the Reagan days as a dark period.

Former Soviet republics and other ex-East Bloc nations remembered Reagan as the American president who stared down Moscow and won, clearing the way for their independence and the 1991 Soviet collapse.

“President Ronald Reagan will be remembered in the hearts of all Latvians as a fighter for freedom, liberty and justice worldwide,” Latvian Pesident Vaira Vike-Freiberga said.

The former U.S. president was not remembered so fondly in many Arab nations. The Reagan years marked the beginning of what Lebanon’s culture minister, Ghazi Aridi, called a “bad era” of American Mideast policy that he said continues to this day.

Political analyst and former Syrian ambassador to the United Nations (news - web sites) Haitham al-Kilani agreed.

“Reagan’s role was bad for the Arab-Israeli conflict and was specifically against Syria. He was the victim of the Israeli right wing that was, and still is, dominating the White House,” al-Kilani said.

Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi said he was sorry that Reagan died without standing trial for 1986 air strikes he ordered that killed Gadhafi’s adopted daughter and 36 other people.

Reagan ordered the April 15, 1986, air raid in response to a disco bombing in Berlin allegedly ordered by Gadhafi that killed two U.S. soldiers and a Turkish woman and injured 229 people.

“I express my deep regret because Reagan died before facing justice for his ugly crime that he committed in 1986 against the Libyan children,” Libya’s official JANA news agency quoted Gadhafi as saying Sunday.

Indeed Reagan was very presidential. I remember back in the 80's touting him as my favorite president, not so much for his policies but rather for his grandfather characteristics. A serious President who could rally the country when need be, humor that could put a jittery nation at ease, and give hope for a better tomorrow. The world has changed where today if you so well wish you can find out if a politician is being truthful or just spewing rhetoric, which is a good thing just not as comforting as looking up to a grandfatherly figure head who tells you how it is and how its going to be and that was that. There will never be another Reagan.

He won the cold war by initiating a second arms race which the Soviets could not afford.

:k: I agree

Lot’s of people regret Bonzo dying:

“I express my profound regrets over Reagan’s death before he appeared before justice to be held to account for his ugly crime in 1986 against Libyan children,” Gaddafi told the official JANA news agency.

The Nicaraguans, El Savadori’s and a whole host of other nations too I guess.

Only the good die young.

Let him die, His time is up. Whatever he did in the world makes no difference, pray that somehow allah forgives him. Knowing he was a US prez, thats highly unlikely. And he didn't accomplish anything, Cold War ended because of more devious intentions not peace making decisions. And yes he did start a new arms race. Russia apparently bankrupt out and broke apart. Whatever, lets not mourn for any of these guys.

Friday is a Federal Holiday b/c of Ronnie

He was a great president and bent backwards for Pakistan, which is why he still liked so much in Pak.

It's a day of mourning and remembrance with the passing of a President.

While as a Liberal i have my disagreements with him on some policies, i appreciate that Reagan provided strong, positive, charismatic leadership in a time when Americans were in doubt over a troubled economy - a changing society and on the heels of the Vietnam War's upheaval - A good leader can change the world and a nation.

Reagan did that!

Well my feelings over Reagan so-so.

His first recognizable job was an an actor. I don't particularly trust actors. Doesn't acting stem from an ability to pretend? And a talent to keep a straight face?

I feel sympathy for his family and friends at his passing.

Alzheimer disease is not something I would wish on anyone. My grandmother also died from Alzheimers..and in one of her lucid moments indicated an awareness of utter helplessness.

Alzheimers is not pretty or selective.

Those affected by this disease slowly or sometimes quickly lose abilities everyone takes for granted.

Even the ability to remember how to stand or chew food.

I don't know that I appreciated Reagan-nomics.

Reagan was fairly old man when he came into office. I have often wondered if his initial onset of Alzheimers was apparent prior to his becoming president. And if is was...have often wondered who was pulling the strings?

Thanks God....Nancy Regan's long ordeal is over...

Shouldn't really speak ill of the dead, so I won’t.
