That will peak travel season, I definitely recommend you make your hotel reservations ASAP, especially in Istanbul. To stay close to the major historical sights (Aya Sofia, Blue Mosque etc) find a hotel in either Sultanahmet or Sirkeci areas of Old Town. You’ll be within 10 minutes of the major sights

booked everything . i booked the hotel in istanbul in the Taksim area. for venice i booked a hotel in San Marcos, and piazza navona in Rome. these areas had the highest ratings in most travel forums.
