Re: Rome, Venice, and Istanbul . please advise!
Wow..where to even begin lol! Those are some very famous places with a lot of historical significance. Start by going to trip advisor....you'll get all the information you could ever want and more. Here's a quick rundown of the all the famous sites of these cities:
Rome:
The Vatican
Sistine Chapel
Spanish Steps
Colosseum
St Peter's Square
Pantheon
Trevi Fountain
Venice:
Grand Canal
Rialto Bridge
Various Art Musuems
Istanbul:
Aya Sophia
Blue Mosque
Basillica Cistern
Topkapi Palace
Hippodrome
Bosphorous Cruise
Suleymaniye Mosque
Grand Bazaar
Spice Bazaar
Istekal Caddesi
Princes Islands
Grand Horn Tour
Galata Bridge & Tower
Eyup Mosque
Rumeli Fortress
All of these cities have so much to offer, you would easily need 5 days in each place to see it all! What is your itinerary and how many days are you planning to visit each?
I'm going to Istanbul later this year and have been planning out our trip, and we're easily going to need 5 full days there before moving on to Izmir/Selcuk/Ephesus
Re: Rome, Venice, and Istanbul . please advise!
3 days in rome, 3 in venice, 3 in istanbul. wish i could have a longer vacation but my husband's vacation isn't long enough to stay any more than this.
Re: Rome, Venice, and Istanbul . please advise!
Definitely go to trip advisor...they have some really good 3 day itineraries for each of your cities..you can get a good idea of how to manage your time and what places are high priority
When are you going?
Re: Rome, Venice, and Istanbul . please advise!
end of June
Re: Rome, Venice, and Istanbul . please advise!
That will peak travel season, I definitely recommend you make your hotel reservations ASAP, especially in Istanbul. To stay close to the major historical sights (Aya Sofia, Blue Mosque etc) find a hotel in either Sultanahmet or Sirkeci areas of Old Town. You'll be within 10 minutes of the major sights

oh ok....Taksim is the cosmopolitan/new town area, removed from the tourist areas, but from what I've read and heard, the furnicular will connect you to the tram that stops in old
town. The elections will be taking place around the time time you're going, I don't know if you've heard or read up on the situation but the politicos protests have all been going on in Taksim Square. It all seems to be pretty peaceful and not affecting the tourism though.
Be be sure to report back here on how your trip went! I'm not going until late summer, so we can compare notes after that lol

You’ll be fine, fikar naat! It’s been relatively peaceful thus far. You’re only there for 3 days right? I’m sure a majority of your time will be spent in Sultanahmet/Old Town where all the historic and main sights are
