Rolling Tasbeeh: Islamic or not

Using Tasbeeh is Islamic or not? Is it sunnah of the holy prophet(pbuh) or his disciples?
Yesterday, my wife was watching an indian tv drama and in it some religious indian woman was using a ‘tasbeeh’ and rolling it like we do. So my question is:
Is it a biddat that we got from hindus or hindus copied it from muslims?

Re: Rolling Tasbeeh: Islamic or not

use the iSubha instead :p

its just for counting....
bid'ah or not comes from what u read....

Your answer is incomplete.
Why do we need to count when we are remembering Allah, doing his zikr.
Don't you think it is kind of show off.

How can showing affiliation and love for Allah and counting go together? Will you keep track of counting or what you are reciting?

Re: Rolling Tasbeeh: Islamic or not

we do tasbhee usualy after namaz too and count it on fingures its like 33 time SubhanAllah, 33time AlhamdoLillah and 34time AllahoAkbar........ its counted too so u think instead of rolling its better ?

Re: Rolling Tasbeeh: Islamic or not

Counting has developed from a literal undertaking of various hadith ... such that so much recital gives so much reward or protection or cure, etc.

Showing off is debatable as we pray infront of people and away from them we give charity infront of people and away from them this is to encourage them to do the same.

Endlessly doing something good as a measure of piety goes against the edicts we learn in Islam which are:

We should do little but as perfectly as we can ... and that one who prays 10 prayers thinking them to be duty has changed the requirement of the 5 obligatory prayers.
