This was really interesting to read few days ago. Robert Clive, yup, the famous East India Co. dude, was gifted three Aldabra tortoises brought from Seychelles some 250 years ago. Two died few years afterwards, and eventually the famous and powerful Clive went down too, but this tortoise lived to a ripe old age of 250+! Amazing!
He lived at Calcutta Zoo for years and was called *Addwaita *meaning ‘the one and only’.
