Re: Roadtrips!

i once drove from Cape Town to Cape of Good Hope and i loved the drive...the road zigzags thru dense woodlots and along the seashore hugging the mountains. it was an amazing drive.

Re: Roadtrips!

^how long was the trip?
thats true zigzag roads are great for roadtrips instead of motorways imo

Re: Roadtrips!

it was a 5 hour drive with stops on the way at vintage scenic points.

Re: Roadtrips!

We made an awesome roadtrip last year with a couple of friends, their kids and our kids. The route was:

[ul]
[li]Day 1:[/li]
[li]Vienna to Klagenfurt - Visited Minimundus[/li][li]Overnight stay in a small town next to Lake Ossiach (balcony of our room was facing the lake)[/li][/ul]

[li]Day 2:[/li][ul]
[li]Lake Ossiach to Venice - Reached Venice around noon and roamed around the city until late in the night (Canal Grande, Piazza San Marco, etc.)[/li][li]Overnight stay near Venice[/li][/ul]

[li]Day 3:[/li][ul]
[li]Venice to Trieste - Very scenic drive from the mountains down to the city center of Trieste (facing the Adriatic Sea). Left the beautiful city of Trieste around noon time.[/li][li]Trieste to Ljubljana - Reached Ljubljana in the early afternoon, had the most fantastic lunch on the whole trip, roamed around the city, went up to Ljublana Castle and roamed around the city some more.[/li][li]Overnight stay in Ljubljana[/li][/ul]

[li]Day 4:[/li][ul]
[li]Ljubljana to Maribor - Maribor is a nice little town but after having spent time in awesome places like Venice, Trieste and Ljubljana it didn’t feel that spectacular. Only stayed there for a short while and then moved on.[/li][li]Maribor to Graz - Graz was a great place to wind up our road trip. Enjoyed the beautiful view from Schloßbergafter which it was time to go home.[/li][li]Graz to Vienna[/li][/ul]
Re: Roadtrips!

bike ride on route 66. Nuff said!!!!!

Re: Roadtrips!

did many road trips for fun,

 • karachi - gawadar
 • karachi - kund malir (half of the above)
 • karachi - khunjerab pass (longest one)
 • trier - paris
 • gothenburg - stockholm
 • gothenburg - copenhagen
 • dubai - salalah, oman (second longest)

not counting any trip below 300KM on each side, which i dont even remember properly

its always fun to drive on loooong routs, having the flexibility to stop whenever and wherever you want, and the best of all, on longer road trips when you don’t know where you will spend the night ahead

Re: Roadtrips!

Re: Roadtrips!

how about scenic train rides? i took several lovely train rides which i can narrate here on GS.

Re: Roadtrips!

What kinda bike??

Re: Roadtrips!

go ahead! what are you waiting for?

train is always my preferred mode of travel when i'm traveling alone and time is not a big constraint, no matter how many times you cross the same area in train looking out of the window, every time its a different scene, different light, and different "happenings"

Re: Roadtrips!

Roadtrips!

I Wanna take a road trip in Pakistan. Northern areas and also in India. Sigh, one day.

One of my most memorable road trips was driving from Los Angeles to San Francisco. Pacific coast on one side and at times even cows on the other side.. Amazing
