We r planning on 4 hr road trip… But I m lil worried coz my baby is 3 month old and I exclusively breastfeeding him…
How should I manage 4 hrs.. Will it be difficult?.. To feed in car .. I mthinking of getting those nursing covers… N plus if u guys go out who ebf.. How do u guys manage?.
I m like can’t go even out for dinner ..coz he gets hungry maximum after 2 or 2.5 hr…
I m really Cnfused how to get through this period..
its difficult but can be done....
we have to park the car in a quiet place so that baby will not get disturbed n use nursing covers ofcourse!make sure you wear some cosy outfit (keepin breasfeeding in mind)for the trip too....
n i hope the baby will go to sleep most of the time while in car inshaAllah!
best of luck!
why can’t you go out for dinner? time it so that you arrive at the restaurant right after he’s been fed. it shouldn’t take you more than 2-2.5 hours to eat, should it?
and if he gets hungry earlier, take along a nursing poncho like the Latch cover (Latch Nursing Covers) and feed the baby at the restaurant.
cars are like your bedroom so of course you can feed him in there.. I have had pulled over, take him out of the car seat, put a shade on window and bf him under a shawl! easy peasy!
and yep like sgc suggested, if you feed him and then go out for dinner.. it shoudl be fine! its so easy with the newborn... sachi! he slept through most of our dine out dates as a baby and now he MUST touch everything :D
no need to worry...its just a 4hr drive....i had to travel for 30hrs with my 1 month old, b'fed him as well as changed his diapers easily... the idea is to make urself as comfortable as u can wen u have a breastfeeding baby... believe me i've fed my little one in the most weird places u can think of n in very uncomfortable positions..
I think newborns are easier to travel with as well, once you've fed them and changed their nappy they'll pretty much sleep.
Feeding in the car shouldn't be a problem, I do it all the time and if I'm the passenger then I do it whilst driving (having tinted windows on the car helps!)
I've also changed nappies on the back seat too following a major explosive nappy incident whilst on the motorway.
IMO travelling (a few hours drive that is),having a nice dinner or even a trip to the mall is way more easy with an infant as compared to when they are toddlers, refuse to be strapped in a stroller/cart/high chair etc.
I have traveled 2-3 hours in a car and BF my kid using a shawl as a cover and was very convenient. Are you the driver..??..You can go to the back seat after pulling over at some service station and use a cape or shawl to cover before you feed the baby.I have bottle fed quite a few times like that when I had to stop somewhere and go to the back seat.I have changed diapers on the back seat and those too very easily. So it should not be hard.
I never had a chance to BF her in a restaurant though but I have used the fitting room of a departmental store a few times to BF her. They almost always have a stool or chair in there and worked perfect for me.
All the best…!
Enjoy this phase because soon enough they wont let you eat at a restaurant because they do not want to sit in a high chair or even a regular chair. They feel they are there to mingle with every other person eating there and tell them ‘Hi…what you doing..?’…
Thank you everybody for advices.. Tinted car n shawl idea is good...
plus every child is diff... He doesn't always sleep.. He wants to play n loves it sit.... But since it's a 4 hr drive...we will leave after feeding so he will sleep for hour or 2 n then will feed again in car let's see.. I hope it goes smooth ... We will leave on sat inshallah
remember n prayers
I remember there was an app that showed you were your nearest baby changing and feeding facilities were wherever you are. Can't remember it's name though.
Available on iPhone and iPad, free
NCT Babychange helps find your nearest baby-change facility when out shopping. As other users add data, it creates a map of the best places for feeding and changing.
i dont know about uk but in US it is against the law to take the child out ofcar seat when driving.

gtg and sgc it wasnt easy for me to go out with a 2month old:(
m i the only one?????
No, for me the newborn period was the worst too. Actually was happy when he was older and srtared crawling etc because he was interested in other things besides being held.
