Bhiku Mhatre is going for a makeover, watch out!
It has been almost a year since Manoj Bajpai’s last release, Aks, hit the screens. He is back in limelight with Road after a long gap.
The dark horse, who has impressed one and all with his striking performances in the past, has another one up his sleeve. Manoj Bajpai might just spring back like the proverbial phoenix. Those who have seen or even heard about the rushes of Ramgopal Verma’s Road would vouch for that. Manoj is not only ‘the power-packed Manoj’ in the film, but an ‘all-new Manoj’… one you would have never seen before.
It has been almost a year since his last release, Aks. Manoj Bajpai was banking on Aks to help his flagging career, but the film failed to draw the audience into the theatres, leaving the actor a shattered man. “I have a very ordinary face. I am not a hero material by any stretch of the imagination,” he had once confided to his journalist friends. However, this very weakness is his strength.

He is back in limelight with Road after a long gap, which he says was necessary to recharge his batteries. During the time-off, he travelled across the country, went to Benares and Bihar. Of course, even while he was travelling, he was in touch with Ramgopal Verma. Interestingly, he states that he was hoping that Ramu didn’t offer him a role in Company.
He explains, “I strongly believe that any significant character in satya would have hampered the objective of Company.” In fact, there is a feeling that his tremendous success as a character of Bhiku Mhatre hampered his progress. One reason for that is his no other role has proved to be as memorable as that of Bhiku. Manoj is hoping that this would all change with Road.
“Road is a very special film shot in Rajasthan in just two schedules. It is about three characters - myself, Antara and Vivek. I’m given lift by these two guys, and that’s how the story begins,” he says. The video shot by director Rajat Mukherjee is already hot with Antara looking sensuous," just wait till you see the other songs - they are more hot!" reveals Manoj in an exclusive chat. “I’m not shown as a psycho or a bad guy, but a very unpredictable guy in Road,” adds Bajpai, who plays a negative character in this movie.
