My husband and I are looking into going from New England down to GA/TN/NC or somwhere around that corner?
I believe we will be driving through MA, CT, NJ, PA, VA, NC, SC, and end up somehwere there.. any recommendations for the routes, places to visit, things to do? It may only be a week long trip though but we do want to explore places on our way!
Any recommendations?
Any websites? books? etc that you think might be useful?
NyC I guess.
Philly is good. Has some things like liberty bell..
Baltimore has inner harbor. That's really about it lol
DC has Smithsonian Museums (which are free)
Pretty much after Virginia I don't thin kthere's much to see. It gets more and more rural-ish...there is a world's largest fireworks factory like every ten miles once you get into sc lol
Walk around Princeton NJ , eat a cheesesteak in Philly, Shop in Georgetown or Reston, Rent a cabin in Shenandoah, keep on driving through NC :) - end up in Atlanta. Lots to do there. Weather is nice as well.
u_ahmed.. we have done the upto VA trip last year and did the DC museums, shenandoah caverns in VA etc... but this time we want to explore a little bit further as well :-)
UZ.. that is on teh list but we woudl probably want to end there not driving for 12 hours just for smoky mountains.. we got Acadia National Park here in ME which is just as pretty as any other national park :-)
njgal... i swear that's on the list.. I have to see a guppie friend in VA and then a quick stop by at family friend's place in NC to meeta nd greet their lil munchkins.. I find guppie friends everywhere we go :D
Princeton.. been tehre done that!!
Philly cheesesteak sounds good so does the liberty bell and hershey!
We were in Shenandoah last year so we can skip it this year but yes it's worth visiting!
Thanks.. I think we have kind of mapped our our trip.. something like this..
East coast to Front Royal, VA
Front Royal to Cherokee, NC using blue ridge parkway
Cherokee NC to Gatlinburg, TN
Gatlinburg TN to Savannah, GA
Savannah, GA to Orlando, FL
and then taking the Auto Train back to DC to save time and driving all the way back.. and from DC it will be only a few hours drive for home!
If anyone has any ideas, recommendations for hotels etc please share.. we might be looking into camping as well but not sure!
