I can see why so many of you liked it. It was kinda low profile, pseudo-classic sorta movie which usually end up winning the oscars too. Those who liked Godfather series are the target audience for this movie.
On a personal level, I found the movie too slow and at several places it just dragged on. The kid's acting was perhaps the best. Tom Hanks gave a mature performance, and was under-stated. His character was never fully defined. Paul Newman was classic. The rest of the characters just came and go.
I don't recommend spending 8-10 bucks on this movie. You can watch it on DVD later on. There are no earth-shattering moments there, which make it a compulsion to view it in a theatre.
If you do decide to watch it in a theatre, make sure you are fully rested. Otherwise chances are that you may end up dozing off during the movie. :~)
