Unfortunately, in the rishta situation a lot of times you end up dealing with strangers or relative strangers. Most people don't like calling people up and saying that they are not interested and it's a no from them. It's embarrassing to call up people and come up with reasons for rejecting someone's daughter that are not hurtful. Plus, also it leaves the door open in case they change their mind and if they can't find someone better they can come back and say yes to the same rishta.
I'd say that the rule of thumb is that if someone has not called you back in a week or two to follow up then it's usually pretty safe to say that they are not interested. Rishtas between strangers are a numbers game, just like blind dates! lol If nothing comes of the first one, then move on the next one. No use to spend ur energy fretting. If they don't get back to you, it wasn't meant to be plus it's all about compatibility and finding the right person - not about finding just anyone. People tend to make the process too much about rejection, their egos and pride when it's not about that really.

Rishta's and marriages are serious issues and take time. 4,7,10 days vs. a lifetime... let them take time (as unfair as it may seem). Inshallah whatever is best for you will happen!

I wouldn't take it to heart much.. sit back, relax and keep your head up high. Learn not to expect anything from anyone unless they show you a ring!
It took my mom a good whole year to find a suitable rishta for me (alhumdulillah been married to him for 3.5 yrs now), but before that meri parade kai baar lagg chuki thee - we knew these guys were serious when they invited us over right away and called the next day to follow up - no one did that for any of the rishta's we had seen before. So when someones' really interested they don't wait around, they make sure they let you know!!
Try not to take the 'no phone call returned' to heart..its a phase of the process! also, pray nafil and ask Allah for guidance and ease in the process insha'Allah!!
