I refuse to serve dinner to rishta visitors. I’m done with entertaining - at the most, it’s chai-nashta and depending on the quality of the guy (my mum has no concept how to say no to people who want to visit - she says agar hum mana karengey, Allah koh shayad hamari baat buree lagjaygi - so she lets anyone come), it will either be ghar ki intezaam or store-bought. Keep in mind my mum is a super fabulous cook - so the guy’s family is definitely missing out when we don’t do home-made but we’ve had so many families visit (I’m one of 4 daughters) that I can’t be bothered with the effort any more
