rishta wali photos

Hello Peoples

So my khala had booked a photo session for me here in karachi with a professional photographer. They have a special ‘proposal photos package’ lol.

When we went the photographer sent me home and told me to come on monday with proper hair and makeup and outfit

He said i need to have MORE makeup on for it to actually show up as anything enhancing in the photos. I had on a mineral powder, contouring stuff on cheeks + blush + highlighter. Eyeliner + mascara and a light lipstick.

He also said i need to wear clothes which do not make me look faded and compliment my skin tone - NC42 atm or bobbi brown 4.5-5.

So basically girls who are good with makeup and makeup artists can you give me advice on what is important in makeup and clothes in terms of making photos look good?

thankks

Re: rishta wali photos

who is this photographer , if u r really wanted to go get yr pix done go to a good photographer n pls dnt have those aunty type pix done with heavy makeup done. i know if i was looking for my bro’s/son’s rishta, i wud make sure the girl was lukin nice but with minimal makeup and just decent clothes not heavily decked up lukin like an aunty.

Re: rishta wali photos

This was a pretty good photographer as far as I know and I saw loads of other girls there having smiliar photos.

Maybe I should contour??

I was wearing a light pink and he said my skin would look faded.

I admit my hair was not amazing it was all sweatyfied and frizzy.

Re: rishta wali photos

Inspi, just stay true to your yourself and your own personal style. Yes, your hair should be neat and well kept, maybe the fishtail braid that looks so awesome on you!!! As far as clothes go, I wouldn’t wear anything too dawat-y…something simple yet elegant. I’m around the same ski tone as you are, and my go-to colors are always black or white :cb:

I am pretty simple/duffar when it comes to makeup though, I think less is more :bummer:

Re: rishta wali photos

wear black, it always works n for everyone! :k:

p.s im nt a big fan of black though, i rather that people experiment with colors but if u want to be on safe side.

Re: rishta wali photos

Proposal photos?! :smack:

I’m NC42 too! Regarding the color…look at all the TONS of pics that’re posted on the wedding forum. Any pale colors are difficult to pull off for me b/c they make me look blah or washed out. I generally get compliments on purples, orange, black, and red. But whatever the color is, it needs to be deep. If you have red…go with that. That’s a very “desi approved” color…appropriate since you’re doing “proposal photos”… I personally stay away with too many prints or busy fabric when doing photos. I try to go do a solid color as much as possible…with a nice modern clean design/kaam on it.

** I also look good in black or white…but back in Pak…those colors may be considered boring (dunno?). Plus I know if my mom had any say, I would never wear black or white to any happy occassion. I imagine a lot other desi mom’s are weird like that about those 2 colors (my mom says they remind her of death!).

As for the make-up, for pics…genenally you need heavier make-up for it to “show up” or photograph well. What MU do you wear when you attend weddings?

Once again, once you select your outfit (make sure its a deeper color…nothing “pale”)…then you can figure out the MU. Primer/foundation/power…then blush and heavy contouring…eyeshadow…dark eyeliner/mascara…brows…and finish off with a nice bright lipstick (bright doesn’t mean tacky…choose a color that actually shows up in pictures). With makeup…keep it tasteful BUT don’t try to make it “light” or “natural”. If you end up choosing red…you can do smokey eyes with grey/black and do a bright red lipstick like MAC Russian Red (My MA applied this for my civil ceremony…I loved it so much I ended up going to MAC and buying it…lol).

Go to Bina Khan for a portrait. She'll make you look elegant and sophisticated.

Re: rishta wali photos

^And make-up/styling is included. Great idea naqsa!

Re: rishta wali photos

^ thanks :-) too bad some will think her style is too muted but IMO, it's the perfect way to take a Rishta photo. You want to present a polished image of yourself, putting on too much make-up, gaudy clothes and jewels, will attract the 'gaudy' type. Look how you would want your potential mate to look.
