When I was being "set up", if /i didn't like the background informatio on the guy and me and mum weren't keen on him but couldn't say no to the lady organising the rishta, I would wear a nice but not so nice suit....do you see what I mean?? Only 3 guys came to see me and one set of parents without their son (on that occasion as it was evening I moaned that I was very tired from work and that I usually get home later than this as I love my job etc etc)
Anyway, only once did I wear decent clothes (like proper upto date fashion etc) and guess what that was the time that my now husband was coming to see me...and this time I was relaxed, prepared and all that.............
i suppose it helped that he was my cousins wife's brother and my auntie and uncle etc were coming up as well! So I was much more relaxed, looking forward to seeing them etc etc.................me and hubby spoke for 3 hours!!! We just got so relaxed with each other..........
Anyway...have been married for 5 great years now, so my trick must have worked!!!!

LOL Catty, i’m pretty open with my parents and of course they don’t mind me speaking to the guy as long as they know about it, but in a halal environment…
Secondly I know the guy, i’ve met him on occasions with family and I’ve seen what he looks like spoken to him so he isn’t like a stranger actually that would be a wierd situation if we were just put together without speaking/meeting each other.
My parents just prefer to do it in a halal environment, of course I can speak to him alone and have coffee with him in my own house if I want LOL! They just don’t like me going out with any random guy for coffees that’s why it’s done in the home!
LB- Thanks for the advice girl, and yeah I am ready to meet people I guess that’s why I agreed for them to come over, it will be very casual meeting family etc so it wont be so imposing!

I agree with what others said, remember to be yourself. Don't be on so called "best behavior"...cuz then it will be fake and you won't really be exressing yourself. If works out grea,t but if not your not stuck in a fake kinda rishtha. Also as someone mentioned think of questions you want answered, that are important to you regarding your marriage and future life together, better to get that out in the open NOW than later.
