Rishta Style

I have been quite amused and confused with the way Desis conduct Rishta practices. There is less straight forwardness and more of “Batein Marna”. Its a phenomenon and it seems like the only way of finding out whether the boy likes the girl and vise verse. It is also a great way to convey message to the parents of the girl and boy. Some of the common things to hear for Boys “Aapkay parents kafi old hote ja rahe hain”. For girl “Beti parhai aur career tu chal ta rahe ga ghar bhi tu basana hai.” “Tumhari ammi kafi pareshan rehti hain tumhare liye” and the best one is for parents “Shadi ghar main ho tu acha hai”.

You will see and observe in many gatherings that the rishtadars would surround the Boys or Girl’s parents, in most cases mother, among the perspective rishtas and observe how they would react. Eyes will move from one end to another and gossiping will start. One comment or action will give the message or a “Ghalat Fehmi” that they are interested the than the word will spread on and over the phone.

It is quite common and I have observed that for a quite while and the more I see, I feel that the generation of our parents just don’t seem to get it. Most of the Singles would never want to get hitched like that because nowadays there are so many issues that need to be discussed and sorted out.

These practices only create unnecessary gossip, false hope and misunderstanding.

And these kinda practices also lead to very happy marriages more often than we, the new generation, think they do.

Re: Rishta Style

people gossiping unnecessarily always always adds alot of drama and mess to everything..if people minded their own business the drama would decline significantly.. and both sides are too critical of each other both sides should give the other side to breath...

Re: Rishta Style

I agree with BBQ. Maybe the way everyone everyone goes about it is wrong, but the intention is right.

That's why you're supposed to meet a gaon ki gori under a mango tree, she'll make you lassi and roti. You both can whisper sweet nothings near the canal, then you tell your family that you want to marry Billo and no one else!

Re: Rishta Style

^ oh okay! I guess I'll restart using my gori kerna walla cream and go sit under the mango tree with lassi and roti ingredients. And wait.

Re: Rishta Style

^ LOL!Go ahead! :p

Re: Rishta Style
