Rishta question....

I live in US and my parents arranged for a rishta back in Lahore. On my last trip I met the girl and I think we hit off well and I would have no concerns on the Rishta. My only concern is the immigration headaches. With the wait times running into multiple years I’m just afraid what it will do to the relationship. Wondering if anyone Elisha’s been in the same situation? Or what advise you’d offer up…

Re: Rishta question....

I have seen a couple of situations, this guy had brought a young, tall beautiful girl from back home. He was surprised that women there are a lot stronger than he had believed. She got him arrested for domestic violence and left him. She got the visa and he got what he deserved. Same thing with another guy who married a girl old enough to be his daughter. People should find spouses in the society they live in. Mail order brides are not what they are cut out to be.

Re: Rishta question....

I'm assuming you are a U.S. citizen. If so, what makes you think that the wait time will be multiple years? You can easily go to Pakistan and marry her. Then asap file forms to bring her here as the spouse of a U.S. citizen. I know several people who have done this and it never took more than 1 year. Are you already familiar with the process? Have you checked the processing times on the USCIS website already?

Re: Rishta question....

A US citizen can bring their spouse on spouse visa in 3 months!

Re: Rishta question....

That is a fiancé visa. Spouse visas can take from a year to two and a half years.
