how does it happen in a love marriage? for my friends case the entire family came over to meet her family but nothing was really mentioned about the actual rishta…lol now they are going to go to their house and then they will bring a rishta i think. how is supposed to happen though? is that weird? i also will be havin a love marriage and dont know what the process should be like bc i thought my friends experience is a bit odd..anyone know?

Hmm.. no thats normal I guess.. they must have wanted to see the family in action before formally saying anything.. but think about it.. just a visit out of the blue means a lot..
In my case alhumdulillah the families know eachother well so.. a week ago my parents sister and taya taie went to there house and asked for our marriage.. her father said I will discuss it with my family then tell you guys... he took one and half day to decide and now alhumdulillah.. they said yes.. our formal baat cheet/ engagement will be 16th july inshallah.. dua kerna.. ;)

I think you will have to find someone in your family you can break it to at first. If you want it to seem like an arranged/love rishta thing. For my very close friend, what we worked out was that she introduce the idea to a Mamoo of hers whom she really liked and trusted. Confess the rishta situation. He in turn met up with the boy, and communicated to her dad that there's this boy who is interested in their girl and she knows him too and likes the rishta/is happy with it. She then gave the guy the thumbs up. The dads got in touch with each other and it went on from there.
mA, 9 years of a relationship and going onto two years of marriage now!

i have even seen that even in arrange marriages one family visits the other but nothing is mentioned about the rishta and both knew that visit was rishta related. Later some one who was initiating all the proceedings just arranged a semi formal ceremony (called Haan in Pujnab)
