That is how it’s done, but I don’t know how effective that really is…I had a rishta like that once upon a time. After meeting the guy, I knew I wasn’t interested and told my parents as much. My parents passed this onto the mutual family friend. I have no idea what went on behind the scenes, but I guess this “friend” didn’t pass on the message (I guess he felt bad or was maybe hoping I’d change my mind?) and the guy was calling my parents and emailing/fb messaging me for several months after that. It was…awkward.
Good luck Nandani! I would really try to encourage your folks to contact the guy’s parents directly. Makes everything so much easier!
