what purpose do they serve? as some one says “picture worth a thousand words” but still it don’t show the true essence of oneself in a single image and secondly no one sends their bad pictures.
and what kind a picture one should send that reflect decency (dont say passport pictures because they are not any less than a mugshot)? is it good to send them with watermark?
ps. kindly post decent and valuable comments since almost every guy and girl is going through this. so the time is short and the space is limited.
A Picture worth a thousand words is true and even Rishta pictures worth a thousand words but you have to figure out rest of the 2 thousand words by meeting the person...
Don't ppl normally just send a couple of snaphots.. with the girls we usually see one in 'normal' western clothes (not formal) and one dressed desi-style.. Sometimes the girls families might send a headshot and sometimes u get weirdos who'll send pics of more than one sister.. With the boys they were nearly always in suit and tie..
Pictures that reflect decency? That's an odd one. Simply send a presentable picture of yourself, wearing the kind of clothes you usually wear. The purpose of a picture, in the rishta scenario, is to get a quick gauge of your attractiveness, or lack thereof. If you pass their standards, then they'll proceed to give thought to your decency and other things of merit. Forget about true essence of self, unfortunately rarely anyone gives a crap about that.
Nearly all the photos we got were the girl in trousers or a casual-ish western dress and then dressed up in shalwar khameez or saree.. A couple of times there were photos of the girl and her sister but then it was cos the parents were basically trying to marry off either of them (who would want parents like that??)..
I've always thought the relaxed snapshots look loads nicer than professional studio pics (which my brother's other half did.. it was a love match but she had them done to show my parents before they met her)..
